George didn't know why he let people boss him around.
It seemed as though the entire world was telling him who to be and when to be it. He was this malleable thing that could be changed and rearranged into infinity and forever.
He was sick of it, if you asked him how he felt about it.
(No one ever did).
So went his normal inner-monologue as he scanned up and down the aisles of the Morning Glory (that name really got under his skin sometimes), the flower shoppe that his mother must have considered a fifth child.
Being the youngest Harrison, it was assumed that George would follow right in his siblings' footsteps and work at the store. No one asked him what he thought (they never did) but it was whatever. It didn't matter. At least he had something to do.
Sure, it made him want to jab rose thorns in his eyes (he'd stuck himself enough times as it was), but at least he was doing something.
His life was a never-ending rerun of a bad sitcom that never fell out of syndication. Wake up, go to school, come home, go to work, go to sleep, rinse, wash, repeat.
The cycle was broken on a warm April day by someone who would change his life.
Her name was Colette.
(In which George works in a flower shoppe and an art major comes in one day, turning his life upside down).
