Epilogue

*Nine Years Later*

I sat on the swing on our front porch. The wind was blowing softly, ruffling the flowers in the garden, as the early morning sun began to creep into the sky. The young girl sat with her older brother in the grass, watching the bumble bee that moved from flower to flower. I smiled as I felt someone come sit down beside me.

“Goodmorning Haz. Sleep well?”

Harry smiled and yawned, stretching out on the swing.

“Slept perfectly,” he said, and kissed me lightly on the lips before turning his attention to the kids in the grass.

We sat in comfortable silence for awhile, until we heard a small scream from across the lawn.

“Dadddddddyyyyyy!”

Harry shot up from the swing, and jogged across the grass, where the little girl sat, clutching her hand.

“What is it Claire?”

“The bumbly bee hurted me,” Claire cried. Harry scooped her up into his arms, carrying her back over to the swing. He set her down on the swing, and ran inside for the band aids. Once he had finished putting one on Claire’s finger, he set her back down on the porch, and told her to go play again.

“But Daddy!”

“What sweetheart?”

“You forgot to kiss it better!” He smiled at her, and bent down, kissing her finger softly.

“All better Claire-bear?”

“Yeah! Thanks Daddy!”

“Go play now,” Harry chuckled, as she bounced down the stairs, running off into the grass again.

Harry sat down on the swing, and I curled myself into his warm chest.

“You are beautiful Sel. I feel like I don’t tell you enough.”

“You tell me every day, Harry,” I said smiling. He leaned down to kiss me softly.

“We should probably go get the food for dinner,” Harry said after awhile and I nodded, sighing.

“Yeah, we all know that Niall will show up early for dinner, just in case there is snacks before dinner,” I said rolling my eyes. Harry laughed.

“How many people are coming again?”

“Well Zayn and Perrie couldn’t make it because they are visiting Perrie’s Mom and Dad. Liam and Danielle should be coming, but they haven’t said for sure yet. And the ones that I know will definitely be here is Niall, Louis and Eleanor with their three kids, Callum and Karly, and their little one Chelsea. That’s it I think,” I said. I smirked to myself for a minute, thinking about how Callum and Karly got together after her and Evan broke up. In a way, I always knew they would.

“Maddy couldn’t make it?”

“No she is staying at her boyfriend’s house for the weekend, but she promised another time she would. You know how much she loves seeing the kids,” I nodded towards Claire and Ollie.

“She took Ollie under her wing, didn’t she,” Harry said softly, almost questioning why.

“Yeah. It took me awhile to figure out why, but then it became obvious once I thought about it for a bit,” I said.

Harry simply looked at me, waiting for my explanation.

“Ollie reminds her of Tyler,” I said, almost in a whisper, “Tyler was almost exactly like Ollie when he was little. And more recently Maddy has been asking how Ollie is more than usual. And that’s when it sort of all clicked for me. Because Ollie is the age now that Tyler was when he died. So I think Maddy needs reassurance that Ollie is healthy,” I finished.

Harry nodded in understanding, wrapping his arm around my waist. We stood there for awhile longer, in silence, until I spoke.

“Thank you Hazza.”

“For what?” He looked at me curiously.

“For everything. For being there for me during the worst bit of my life. For helping me heal from everything that happened while you were on tour. For loving me with everything you have, and for giving us two beautiful children. Watching you with them is so beautiful. You are an amazing father Harry. And you an amazing husband. I couldn’t ask for any better.” I smiled at him, as I watched tears form in his bright green eyes.

“I will always be here for you Sel,” Harry said softly, and I heard him quietly start to sing.

If you’re pretending from the start like this,

With a tight grip, then my kiss,

Can mend your broken heart,

I might miss everything you said to me,

And I can lend your broken parts,

That might fit like this,

And I will give you all my heart,

So we can start it all over again.”

We stood on the porch, as the sun finally broke over the rooftops, and beamed down on us, foreheads touching.

“I love you Selena Thompson.”

“I love you too Harry Styles.”
