"Mother, where do I belong from again?" Dduwies asked her foster mother. The lady sighed in exasperation. "Dduwies, you were adopted, your name was 'Dduwies Corwynt', you were an amazing all-rounder. Oh and you came with a set of translucent, lightning-blue twin swords which I have already given to you. I don't know anymore information," her mum replied. Dduwies sighed and stood up, admiring her black dress. She had a poolside party that afternoon-she had to look her best.

Dduwies was sure that she had special powers that others did not have. Sure, everyone had water and earth as their elements, but hers was rarer-lightning and metal. She never did show it, however, except for to her teachers and mother. Humble people would only show their flaws. Someone the polar opposite of her would not be the best person to make friends with. But she did, anyway.

Danse des Lames, an arrogant male teen who flaunts his power-fire-whenever and wherever he can. She'd met him on the first day of school, tried to change his bad habits, and although he became the best of friends with Dduwies, he never took her advice.

And now she walks toward the front door, waiting for him.

"Hey Dduwies!" He shouted, walking with swag as he strolled through her front door. As usual, the first person to arrive. Dduwies' mother glared at him. She turned to Dduwies, "Why are your friends so terribly rude, Dduwies?" She huffed and disappeared through the back door to prepare the bar and food. Dduwies sighed and returned to staring at her beautiful black dress. It was quite an amazing dress, really, with black-fade-to-white short wrap dress, with a plain gold belt to top it off. With the dark electric-blue stilettos, she looked beautifully dashing. Suddenly, she got slapped by her own long, jet-black hair. "Haha! Look at you!" Danse roared with laughter. Turns out, Danse had took Dduiwes' long straight ponytail and slapped it against her face.

Bastard.

To get her own back, she took a fistful of his brown hair and dragged him across the floor. Then she pulled him up and dropped him. All with one arm.

"Ow! Okay I'm sorry! Geez!" He whimpered, putting his hands over his head as though protecting it. She rolled her eyes and walked towards the pool, planning to help her mother with the preparations. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

She quickly ran toward the door before Danse could be there. She swung open the gate. "Hi, Nikki!" She chirruped happily, hugging her photographer friend. The redhead grinned and lifted her camera, snapping a shot of Dduwies. "Look at you," she replied, taking the photo as it slid out of her pink Polaroid camera, "All dressed up! That grey eyeshadow is amazing! Oh, and can I borrow that dress sometime?" She hopped in, taking in her surroundings as her glittery, metallic-pink high-low dress fluttered. Her Cinderella shoes clicked all around the house. "Just don't go upstairs!" Dduwies shouted after her. Then she dragged Danse up and told him to follow as they made their way to the pool to help her mother.

One after another, people-Dduwies' mother's and her own-strolled in, chatting happily with their amazing clothes and the occasional casual clothes over swimsuits. She smiled. Just then, everybody gasped at the same time. Then clapped. She turned around and look at that, Danse just set her cat on fire.

Haha just kidding. But he did set her favourite owl bag on fire. "DANSE, YOU GET YOUR FEET HERE RIGHT NOW," she screamed at him. "Relax, I can extinguish it!" he rolled his eyes, then attempted to extinguish the fire. It only grew bigger. "God damn it Danse!" She retorted loudly and stood in front of the fire. She focused her water element on the fire and shouted, "Extinguish!" A wave of water dove right in through the window facing the pool and spun around the fire, extinguishing it. It returned to the pool, not leaving a single water mark.

The bad news was, the fire scorched her bag. She advanced on Danse, her voice dangerously low, "That bag was from my biological mother, and you just scorched it. No, this is not The Scorch Trials. You-" she pointed her finger to Danse's chest, "-are going to fix it." With that, she turned and walked toward her mother who had miraculously heard nothing, only to stop at the door and say, "That's the result of your arrogance, Danse des Lames."

Recognising her power, people looked down and apologised to her for not stopping him. The party went on, but it wasn't as fun. Not with the tense aura Dduwies was giving out.

Danse was going to get it.
