Willow wanted to get up early so she would get out if her house faster.

She took a quick shower, got dressed, and brushed her hair out. She packed her bag and got her shoes on. Then she kissed her parents and brother good bye and headed out. All by 7:00.

The wind blew hard and the smell of rain filled the air. Leaves crunched under Willows black Vans. She tightened her jacket around her from the cold. She looked down the streets. Houses lined the streets. With perfect lawns cut certain inches. Some houses had flower beds growing in front of their houses. Others had white trims on their houses. They all looked beautiful and perfect. She wondered what that boys house looked like. The thought seemed to activate her necklace. It started to heat up again.

"Hey." Willow nearly had a heart attack. She turned around and saw the boy smiling at her. She didn't know what to say or do. She just stared at him hoping she didn't look ridiculous. His eyes. Oh boy. She didn't get a good look at them yesterday when she first saw him. Behind his rectangular glasses, they were a very light brown. Almost hazel. They seemed to change color however. From light brown to darker brown to a tint of green. They were gorgeous and she wished she could put them in a jar and keep them forever.

Willow realized she was still staring. She quickly looked away and said quietly, "Hi."

"I'm Isaiah," he said.

"I'm Willow," Willow said.

"I'm new here. I've seen you around and I was wondering if I could walk with you."

"Oh, yeah. Sure,"

"Great thanks," he smiled so handsomely. "I wanted to walk to school with someone who actually knows where they're going."

Willow giggled a little. Then she and Isaiah started walking.

They walked in silence for awhile till Isaiah broke it.

"What's it like at school?" He said.

What's it like at school? Willow thought. How could she tell him everything about school. She started small.

"Well, most of the teachers are nice. And there are some kids you should avoid," she said. "Where are you from, Isaiah?"

Isaiah was quiet like the question brought back dark memories. Not a good sign.

"Not important. I'm just glad I don't live there anymore," he said and Willow decided not to pressure him about it.

The sun had rose higher and something glinted near Isaiah's chest. She glanced a little and saw a necklace, like hers, except silver. It was the same heart shape. The same chain. It made her look down at her own necklace. The necklace she's had since birth.

"Hey, what's that?" she decided to ask.

Isaiah looked at his necklace. "Oh this? Its just a necklace I got when I was born," he said. "I don't know why, though."

"I have one just like it, but, gold." She showed him her necklace. He seemed trustworthy so she told him about it. How sometimes it was freezing cold and sometimes it was very warm. Isaiah didn't laugh. He didn't smile. He seemed to understand. Like . . . its been happening to him too.

When Willow finished telling him, he slowly said. "Yeah." And that's it.

After that, they made it to school in silence. Willow hoped tomorrow wouldn't be as awkward.
