"Sorry for what exactly?" Sam narrows his eyes at me. "Sorry for the fact that you're so oblivious or sorry for telling me that you and Jack are together, again?"

My eyes widen at his harsh tone. I was just apologizing in general. I don't mean to remind Sam about me and Jack.

"I really didn't know that you had feelings for me, Sam. Forgive me. We both need to be moving on because we all know it wouldn't have worked out between us. We're too good of friends."

"Oh, so now you're friend zoning me?" He scoffs. "Would things have been different if you knew I had feelings for you?"

"Maybe." I quickly say. "But it doesn't change the present now. I'm engaged and you need to move on." I say as politely as possible.

"Yeah, yeah." Sam dramatically rolls his eyes. "How many times are you going to tell me that?"

"As much as it takes to get it through your head." I retort.

"I'm sorry I'm not like you!" His voice slightly raises. "I'm sorry that I can't move on as quick as you!"

I'm taken aback at his words. He's not wrong. I do move on quickly and it's because I force myself to. He's overthinking the past. I purse my lips together and nod once, taking in a deep breath afterwards.

I stand from the bed, "I'm ending this conversation right now. Before any of us say anything we'll regret."

"Have fun being Jack's shadow." He sarcastically smiles before I exit his room. "He's going to eventually get tired of you."

Jack immediately stands up from the couch as he sees me come into view and Johnson slowly shuts his laptop, turning his attention to me. Sam's lasts words to me just keep replaying in my head.

He's going to eventually get tired of you. It's been almost two years and he hasn't yet?

"He didn't hurt you, did he?" Jack asks.

"Sam's not a monster." My eyebrows push together.

"Was he mad?" Johnson chimes into the conversation.

I shrug, "wasn't as mad as I thought he'd be."

"Which is good, right?" Jack blurts and I nod.

"I guess." I sigh. "I just want to go back home." I tell him and he nods.

We both say goodbye to Johnson and now I'm feeling bad because we're leaving him alone. He has many friends and I'm sure he'll call one up. Or maybe Sam will go through with partying tonight. I can't be the one to guide Sam through moving on.

I've kind of made everything these past few days about myself and I do feel bad. I'm really selfish. As Jack and I are riding back to our place, I decide to speak up about his investment he made two days ago.

"How was your meeting the other day?" I ask.

He grips the steering wheel for a moment, "you're asking now?"

I purse my lips as response. I'm sure he didn't mean it as harsh as it sounded. I shrug my shoulders.

"What were you even thinking of investing in again?"

"Not sure if I want it to be family owned or not, like a hotel or resort, or if I want to get into technology." He confesses.

"Jack Gilinsky dealing in technology?" I light laugh and he looks at me for a moment.

"Well, yeah, I want to be successful at something. I don't want to depend on inheritance money and my dad for the rest of my life. For our life." He tells me.

"Jack, I'm gonna end up getting a job in the future too." I say.

He looks at me again, unsure this time.

"What about when we have a baby?" His eyebrows pull together.

Some unknown feeling runs through my body. It makes me warm knowing that he's already thinking so far ahead into the future.

"I'll take off work, obviously." I reply.

"Why can't you just not work? At all?" He stupidly asks.

"I want to make my own money and are you sure you want to start running a company now? While everything else is going on?"

"Nothing else is going on." Jack bites the inside of his cheek. "I could start now while I have nothing. You have school to deal with and after you're done with school and I'm settled with a company, we can start planning our summer wedding."

My eyes widen at his whole thought out plan. Geez, he really is mentally prepared for everything. I'm just taking things day by day. I nod my head at him as we're turning into the driveway.

"We've got this, don't worry." Jack squeezes my hand in reassurance.

"I don't want you to stress yourself out." I honestly tell him. "I know you care about me a lot and tell me not to worry about anything or stress out, but I also want you to say that to yourself. I'll be here to tell you that too."

A small smile forms on his lips as he looks at me with lust. I swallow a lump in my throat and get out of the car. Jack mirrors my actions. That was such a deep conversation. I'm just gonna leave Jack alone and let him do his business thing.

"Want to stop anywhere?" Jack asks me from out of the blue.

I shake my head, "not in the mood to eat."

"That doesn't matter. Are you hungry at all?"

"No, Jack. Just drive back to your house, please." I say.

His jaw clenches for a short moment and I can tell he's biting his tongue and refraining from telling me something. I just let it go because I don't want to fight today. I've just argued with Sam.

"Speaking of my house." He emphasizes the 'my'. "Are you gonna move in with me when we're actually married?"

"Of course I am." I lightly laugh. "We can't be husband and wife, but live in separate houses?"

He smiles, "good."

I take my ring out from my jean pocket and slip it back on my finger. I'm marrying Jack and nothing is going to stop that.
