I walk in the house as quietly as I can, wincing as I notice my Dad passed out on the couch. I walk to my room, changing quickly and covering the bruises on me.
"Shit, I'm gonna be late," I whispered, rushing out of the door towards school and keeping my head down.
"Hey look, the schools wannabe slut is here, have too much fun last night?" One of the jocks taunted as I rushed into the school. I walk to my locker, ignoring the words wrote on my locker and hurrying to class, getting there seconds before the bell.
"Okay class, I will put up a few questions on the board for you to answer." The teacher says, not even looking up from his phone as we do our work. I dive into my work, not paying any attention to the chaos around me, trying to ignore the growing pain in my ribs.
"Hey, little slut, how about doing something worth time and do mine too," The girl beside me named Tiffany taunts as I keep my eyes on my paper.
"Hey, do you hear me?" She asks, getting impatient and grabbing some of my hair to make me look at her. I ignore it, not showing pain as she gets bored with it and just taking my paper to copy. I ignore everything and just look around the room, not bothering to try to get my paper back. As she copies my paper, I inspect the people around me. I hear snippets of conversations buzzing around me, though I never really tune into any of them. I turn my bored gaze to the slowly ticking clock on the front wall, nearly sighing as I see that we still have almost a half an hour left in the class. I look back down at my desk as my paper is thrown back on it. I quickly finish the last few questions, putting the paper in my binder.
I hear a bang and yelling from the hallway, startling me. I see the shadow of someone tall on the wall across from our door and I see a flash of dark hair pass our door mere seconds later. I bite my lip, trying to hear the conversation going on outside of the door. I see one of the jocks go by, with an angry glare fixated on something beyond my view. I strain to hear the muffled conversation, watching for the people still. A yell and loud crash is heard suddenly, and our teacher stands with a sigh, opening the door and looking out.
"Both of you to the office now!" he yells at the boys in the hallway. I see the boys walk by, still glaring at each other as our teacher walks back in and sits down. I sigh as the class starts to buzz about the argument as I lay my head down to try to take a nap.
Finally, the bell rings and I rush out of the class, getting my stuff from the lockers before anyone can catch up to me. I grab my stuff and turn around, getting a slap to the face as my greeting.
"You think you're smart? Trying to avoid us, are you?" The most popular girl in our school, Lindsey demands, motioning for one of her friends to grab my arm.
"Let's take this somewhere else girls, she needs to remember who runs this school," Lindsey states, walking towards the door. She glances back to make sure they're dragging me along with them.
