Chapter Two
Alex
Well that was.......unexpected. I’m not quite sure what I’d expected, but it wasn’t that. When she had practically flown into my arms and I’d felt the warm soft skin of her back...for some unfathomable reason, I had not wanted to release her. Then she had looked up at me and her incredibly full lips had parted as she gasped. That small insignificant action had managed to send a small throbbing pulse to my groin. Jesus Shaw, get a grip...anyone would think you’ve never seen a beautiful woman before.
Yes. She was beautiful and as she walked ahead somewhat shakily with Billy, I couldn’t help it when my eyes were inextricably drawn to the backs of her thighs and her fantastic arse. I watch her talking to Billy about her paintings. Umm...not bad work Miss Mackenzie. I don’t know why I’m surprised but she is rather good. Beauty and talent...I was intrigued.
Every so often as she talks to Billy, I see her surreptitiously glancing in my direction. A few seconds later, she looks at me again, but this time I catch her gaze and hold it. Her pale skin instantly flushes and she quickly blinks and turns her face once more towards the painting on the wall. Smiling, I realise I’m having an effect on her like she is on me. Interesting. God her cheeks are still burning red and suddenly I find myself wondering if she would look as flushed after sex....after I fuck her....Jesus! What the hell’s wrong with me? But I can’t get the image of me on top of her with her legs wrapped around my waist out of my head. Christ.
Billy suddenly turns his attention to me and asks “Well Alex. What do you think? Are you going to buy one?” He’s smiling with a wicked glint in his eye. I glance at Kate, who looks at me somewhat chagrined. I keep my gaze on her as I answer.
“I’m very tempted Billy.” Kate looks away, immediately flushing all over again. Wow, she blushes so easily. I move to stand right next to her. “I very much like this one Kate.” I nod towards the painting in front of us. A nude lying down on a couch.
Her eyes momentarily widen and she murmurs softly, “This one is my favourite.” There is a hint of surprise in her voice.
“Tell me Kate, what were you thinking when you painted this?”
“I don’t know...I...” Her flustered mumbling is cut short when her eyes are suddenly looking past me over my shoulder. I sense someone coming towards us.
“Susan. You remember Billy.” She seemed almost relieved talking to this woman who came and stood next to Kate, looking at the rest of us expectantly.
“Yeah of course. Hi Billy, how are you?”
“I’m good Susan, how are you?” he said as he bent down to kiss her cheek.
She looked up at him with the broadest grin, showing incredibly straight white teeth. The sign above her head flashing I really like you could not be any brighter. I look at Billy wandering what he’s making of all this and I’m amazed to see that he’s grinning back at her in the same way. Oh boy, we’re all at it. I suppress a smile.
“Oh Susan, this is Alex Clayton, he’s a good friend of Billy’s,” Kate informs Susan as she gestures towards me. “Alex, this is my truly wonderful agent, Susan.” I put out a hand to shake Susan’s. She takes my hand, shaking it with narrowed eyes.
“You look familiar Alex. Have we met?”
Oh shit, she’s recognised me. Kate is looking at me and then back at Susan. “I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure Susan.” I wasn’t actually lying...we never have met but she obviously recognises me.
