I look at myself in mirror. My long blond curls are up in a tight bun. My makeup is done, not a lot of it just enough. I'm wearing a pair of tan skinny jeans, a light blue v-neck t-shirt, and a tan infinity scarf. I'm wearing my glasses because a lost all my contacts to the sink.

Today was the day I'm meeting my dad, Bill Belicheck. I'm not so sure I'm ready to meet him. But, I mean I lose one parent I get anther one. That was a bad joke.

I make sure Timmy and Will have water, my dogs. Then I lock the door of my apartment. I walk down the stairs, each step feels like the next step in my life.

I open the door to my 2013 Chevrolet Malibu and turn it on. I drive to Carmen and park across from it. I can already see Bill sitting down at a table, waiting for me.

"I can do this." I tell myself. I get a weird look form a rich looking old lady. I just role my eyes.

I walk in the door and here his voice.

"Are you Grace?" he ask.

"Yeah, are you Bill?" I ask.

"Yes I am." he says in a proud tone."Come sit down."

He pulls out a chair for me. This weird. It's only been my mom and I for my whole life. To have a dad in my life will be...different. But, I'm willing to try it.

"So, Grace, what do you do for a living?" Bill ask.

"I'm a teacher." I tell him.

I look down at my menu. I notice they have my favorite, grilled flatbread with caramelized onions, eggplant, zucchini, roasted peppers, arugula, and goat cheese.

"Do you know what you're having?" I ask.

"I'm not sure."

A few minutes go by and we're both ready to order.

"How's your mother?" Bill ask. He must not know she's gone.

"She died Friday night. Of skin cancer."

"Oh, I didn't know. I'm so sorry." he looks away and shakes his head.

"Yeah it's okay."

"So, tell me more about yourself." he tells me.

"Well," I have to think a moment, I usely don't talk about myself, "I'm 26. I have two dogs, a black and yellow lab. I teach kindergarden. I grew up in Northern Maine. But, when mom got sick we moved up here. I also have a horse, she's a thoroughbred. For extra money I help at the animal shelter. There's not much here."

"Well what I see is a beautiful, independent women that I'll be glad to call my daughter."
