As he opened his eyes fully, he noticed a huge lamp shinning directly on him. As he began to sit up he noticed that he was in a white hospital gown and had no pants on, he then concluded that he was in the hospital. As he looked around the room where he was, he began checking for signs of anything that could have led to him being here because his memory was a bit shaky after a second round of terrifying nightmares. As he tried going through his memories to remember what had happened after that nightmare, an African- American nurse walked into the room.
"Oh thank God your up, you had everyone really worried", she said, "Well... ummm what am I doing here", he said. "Well dear, you had a severe seizure and you had blood gushing out of your eyes", she said. As soon as Jack heard that he began feeling his eyes and looking around him for any signs of blood. "Well, I don't think you'd remember all that happening but, your fine now", the nurse said. "Is there anything you can remember before you woke up or before you went to bed", she asked.
"Well I have been having a lot of nightmares lately and I just had one before I woke up", he replied. The nurse looked around for a second and sat down next to him "Nightmares huh? Well I'm Nurse Whitney by the way, feel free to tell me what these nightmares were about", she said. Jack went on with the events of the first one and brought up to her face the scar he discovered after the dream. She took a look at it and went on to touch it. As soon as she touched it she felt immediately on easy and hot. "This isn't an ordinary scar", she thought, "Are you sure you didn't get this from anywhere else", she asked. But jack nodded, she stared at the scar for about a minute and asked "ok, what about the second nightmare", Jack went on describing it and when he was done Nurse Whitney's face was filled with fear and terror. She then again looked around to the room and asked "have you told your parents about this?" , Jack nodded "But they didn't believe me and thought I was lying because I got it from somewhere else and didn't want to tell them", he added.
Nurse Whitney nodded her head for a while and said "Well, when I was a kid I use to have terrifying nightmares too, but mine was always about this old woman who chased me", she said, "I told my father who was a priest back then God rest his soul, and he made this", she added and lifted up a hand bracelet with the cross of Christ on it. She added "he also blessed it, and since then I didn't have any nightmares at all", "Wow", jack said, "I wish I had one of those" he added. Nurse Whitney looked at him with a face of remorse and pity and said "here have it, I'm a big girl now so you can have it but keep it on you at all times especially when u go to bed", Jack had a big smile on his face and said "Thank you very much Nurse Whitney, I promise I'll keep it on me always".
After about five minutes of chatting with Nurse Whitney, Doctor Raymond and Jack's parents walked in. upon sighting Jack, Jack mother sprinted over to him and gave him a big hug and asked if he was alright. He nodded and while that was happening Doctor Raymond came up to him and checked his eyes with a very mini flash light and was in shock. "It's as if nothing happened, you really scared us there little man are you ok", he asked. "Well I'm fine Doc", jack added. Doctor Raymond still wasn't convinced but by the looks of Jack he looked alright. Doctor Raymond then went on to say "well he seems alright, but I'd like to keep him here for a week or two for monitoring", Jack's parents didn't seem to have any problems with it.
After an hour Jack's parents were asked to leave the room for Jack to rest. And without any debate they left peacefully. Jack was a bit sceptical about going back to sleep but he seemed to trust Nurse Whitney and whatever powers the bracelet had, and so he did without any other second thoughts. It was morning and Jack seemed to have woken up on a good side. He was happy, energetic and smiling and didn't have any nightmares the previous night. It had seemed that Nurse Whitney's bracelet helped him sleep a lot better than the previous nights.
After one week in the hospital, Jack was discharged and was saying his goodbyes to all the kind nurses who were there and those who entertained him. He gave Nurse Whitney a very long hug and said "Thanks for everything", she nodded and said "You're welcome Jackie". After a one minute conversation with her, Doctor Raymond called Jack into his office to perform some final tests. Jack went in with his parents and Jack was given very physical tests and seemed to have been fine. And so after the tests he was finally allowed to leave and go home to rest for a week before going back to school which is like a dream for anyone who was in school at that time.
And so Jack was back home, he immediately went to relax himself on the couch and watch cartoons on the TV for a long as he could. His siblings were back from school after an hour of his arrival and were more than happy to see him. Jack felt at piece that all his troubles were gone and he had nothing to worry about for a long time. But unfortunately for Jack, this was only just the beginning.
