It's been six years now, so far there have been so many crazy changes in the Harman family. So far Jack's parents had very successful careers and had both moved up to management levels. Jack's younger brother Derick who is now 15 was already going at a very good pace to becoming his sets future valedictorian which is like a few years away I mean some people just try too hard. Anyway, Jack's twin sisters Elizabeth and Emily aged 12 were just the sweetest girls you could ever meet. They were so perky and fun-loving and well obviously were tiring for those who had to restrain them after their sugar rush events.
And then there's Jack. Jack still hasn't had any paranormal dream encounter thing since his time at the hospital. He still wears the cross bracelet the nice nurse gave him even though he can't remember why but he just felt safe when he wore it. And low and behold the little cry baby from six years ago has a girlfriend. Her name is Nancy who is sixteen and a half . She goes to school with Jack and lives a couple of blocks away from him. The two have been going steady for a couple a months but have known each other for 5 years.
Jack who is seventeen so far is a very good basketball player at his school. He's the most popular player because of his amazing shooting and dribbling skills. He was known as "Lefty" because he shoots crazy shots with his left arm and it was more of a dominant arm for him even though he was right handed. Anyway, a big game was coming up, his school was going to visit another school across America {which is where they are if I haven't mentioned that already}.
It's been anticipating since the beginning of the year {its June now}, all the players were training day in day out and weren't taking things easy, the match was due to hold July 24th and the players with their couch were to leave for Texas on the 23rd. Well the team sure was confident after 6 months of vigorous training, but everyone still looked up to Jack to totally destroy the other team.
Jack was pretty average in school so he was allowed to play as much basketball as he needed to. His best friend and fellow basketball player Lance also seventeen was like a super genius with very impressive athletic skills, how he balanced academics and basketball so perfectly was a mystery but you know some people are just like that apparently. He also had a girlfriend Betty who was seventeen. The four of them were the very close and had their little meeting and hangouts during lunch and after school which was a daily routine for the couple duo thing. Most of the time they'd usually hangout at Jack's house.
It was July 22nd, it seemed like a normal day for Jack and his family but the next day was the team's departure to Texas. The whole team was excited eager although still filled with a lot of confidence, but it's not every day every school organizes something like this especially outside the inter high basketball tournaments. It was the last training session before the team departed the next day and were giving it their all in order not to get benched and miss the game.
Jack on the other hand had no problem with the fear of being benched, and was working his magic with a smile on his face until he got tackled by two team mates. Even though he fell it seemed normal, but when he tried to get up, he felt a chill down his spine and a very sudden and sharp pain at his left arm. When he looked over at it he noticed that his bracelet wasn't on anymore.
He started to panic asking the guys around to search for it, after about two minutes of searching, Lance picked it up close to bench and yelled "yo, Jack I found it" . When Jack had a face of relief was soon stroke with a face of terror as he walked and saw that his bracelet had been shatter into too many pieces beyond repair. He held it in his arms like a mother who just lost her child and was in despair. He couldn't move, he didn't know why but he was very very afraid. The couch walked over and patted him on the back saying "that's quite a low blow, your lucky bracelet huh?" Jack just nodded.
The whole team didn't know how to console Jack at all not even Lance. Before practice was dismissed, the coach promised to get Jack a brand new and better bracelet if he'd just hold off till after the game at Texas. Jack refused and insisted that the bracelet be fixed. The coach looked like he felt his pain and agreed to his demand. On the way home from school Jack had a face of someone who had lost all his relatives at once. "Why the mellow looking face sweetie" said Nancy, Jack just barged his face into her chest and was moaning {you know the sounds you make when you are denied something you want}.
After Lance explained what had happened to Nancy, she held and consoled Jack until his mellow face as she called it subsided. He was back to normal for the walk to his house. As they sat in his room just talking about things that happened that day, Lance said "but dude, what's with the bracelet anyway", Jack sighed very deeply and said "Look, I don't know what to say I feel right when it's on me, plus it goes way back to the series of nightmares I used to have", after saying that Jack paused and went on with "huh, why did I just remember that now?",.
He went on and explained what went on and how he apparently found himself in the hospital, the three of them looked puzzled and couldn't even alter meaningful words. But for some reason Jack just couldn't remember who gave him the bracelet, he remember all the nurses but just didn't know which of them gave it to him. As they left Nancy said "get some sleep sweetie, and don't worry everything would be fine, I love you", they hugged and kissed and the gang left. The team mates were all on their beds late that night filled with insomnia due to their excitement for the trip however Jack wasn't having the same feeling.
Jack didn't think about that at all and wasn't struck with any form of insomnia at all. But he somehow managed to sleep. Jack woke up the next morning, "ok, so no nightmare, maybe this really was for nothing", although Jack had held on tight to the bracelet in his hands throughout the time he slept. As Jack left the his home to meet the bus at school for the trip, as his siblings said their goodbyes his mum offered to try and fix up the bracelet and would make sure it would be ready by the time he got back. He willingly gave it to her.
Jack proceeded to school with no fear and relief in his heart that his bracelet was going to be fixed. The team did a little practice session that afternoon. So the team went on to the airport that evening, a few minutes later they were in the airplane departing for Texas. As the guys who were tired just went on to their seats and were already passing out.
