You wake to an unusually cold morning. Putting on your sweater, you climb out of bed and to your bedroom window. Removing your curtains, your eyes widen at the sight of a powdery white landscape. What once was a golden autumn backyard is now a winter wonderland. You run to your back steps and open the door. Your face is met with a blast of cold air, but you can't help but smile. The pale white blanket of snow covering the grass is untouched and pure. Delicate snowflakes, each individual and unique fall to the floor, adding more to the snowy fortress. Today is the first day of winter.
