"Maya! Get your brother from school. He needs a ride."
"Mo-om, why can't you get him? I have to go to practice in an hour!"
"5 minutes won't make you late. Now go!"

"Mark! Come on, hurry up! No, I don't care if you have detention, I have practice in less than an hour and I need to get ready!" Maya yelled into the phone. A pause came when her brother responded, and then, "Well, skip, you idiot! Now come on!"
"Mark! It took you long enough! Now get in, you spoiled brat."
"Hey, don't call me that, turd breath!"
"Fart eater!"
"Freak of nature!"
"Sewer smeller!"
"Ouch, that one really hurt," Mark joked.
"Uh huh, yeah, sure it did. Now, do you have anything I need to take you to after swimming, little eighth grade scum?"
"Um... Nope! But...."
"What? Come on, spit it out!"
"Er... Could you help me with.... Um, well there's this girl..."
"Aw! Mark has a girlfriend, Mark has a girlfriend! What's her name? Is she pretty? What does she look like? Is she popular? Does she-"
"God, Maya, you're just like Mom! Luckily, we're home, and I have to go to my room! I have homework, so go get ready for swimming."
"Nah, nah, nah. You are going to tell me when I get back, though!"

"Maya! You're home. Come on in. Your father and I have something important to tell you."
"What is it? Are we finally getting a dog? Are we moving to Iowa?"
"No, Mark, we're not getting a dog, and we're not moving to... Iowa? Where did that one come from? Anyways, come sit on the couch in the living room and we will tell you."
"Okay... so what is it, Mom?" Maya asked after she sat with Mark, her father, and her mother. She swished the long, brown hair out of her eyes and blinked her mascara lined brown eyes.
"We're going on vacation!"
"Where?"
"Australia!"
