Phil knew what love was, he knew Dan had it nestled tightly in a small fragment of his heart, specifically labelled for him.
Dan just had an anger problem, and until that was sorted; love could only be ruled out.
And however much it pained Phil, he knew Dan needed time, he needed time to sort himself out, time to replenish himself and rid of any anger he had, finding new ways to deal with it.
Phil was willing to give Dan as much time as he needed.
