~Kyle's POV~
I couldn't wait for the game. I always worry before games, but it's all worth it in the end. Especially knowing that Carli will be in the crowd, wearing my jersey. I've never let anyone wear my jersey, because I only wanted her to. Because I've always loved her.
So walking down to the field for the game, with my team, was pretty exciting. I knew the game didn't start for about an hour, but I insisted on looking for Carli in the stands right away.
I didn't see her there, but I knew she would be. I also knew that when I scored, if I scored, I would bring her down to the field, and ask her to be my girlfriend. Seems pretty cliche I know.. And well that was kinda the point, Carli always loved things that were cliche.
~The Game~
Tonight we are playing the Summerfield Sharks, the hardest team in the league. Last year when we played them we lost 3-0, but this year I'm determined to win. Especially since Carli is watching.
As soon as I looked into the stands, I saw Carli, in my jersey. I couldn't help but blush at the sight of her. She waved as our eyes met, I waved back as I ran toward our huddle near the benches where our coach was giving positions.
"William; right wing!" He shouted. Then continued listing everyone's names off. When he got to me he said, "So Kyle I'm guessing that's Carli in the stands, the one wearing YOUR jersey. The one you've never shut up. Right?" He said, giving me a sly smirk.
"Umm, yeah that's her." I said, rubbing my neck nervously.
"And I'm guessing you were gonna ask her to be your girlfriend during the game. Correct? Especially after you score." He said
"Uh, that was the plan..." I said, scared of where this was going.
"Then somebody get her down here! Get her on the bench with us! And Kyle you're playing your regular position. But you better score! And you gotta treat my niece like a princess!" He says.
"NIECE!?" we all yell, some even doing a spit take.
"Yeah, now who's getting her? The game starts in 10 minutes. Hurry up!" He says, enthusiastically.
I then saw William start sprinting to the bleachers, like his life depended on it. He's been scared of coach for a while now, because last time he didn't do what coach wanted he had to do sprints all practice.
As soon as he came down with Carli and Caroline following him, I ran and kissed Carli's cheek. Connor came over and did the same to Caroline. I always knew that kid liked Caroline.
But what Calum said next completely surprised me, "So coach, can I invite my boyfriend down here." He whispered.
"If that's what you need as encouragement to win, of course." Coach said.
"I'll call him." Carli said. "Sam is great company."
Everyone else just stared dumbfounded at Calum. He never told anyone about this. We all thought he liked Carli. She must have known the whole time!
As Carli was calling Sam, the ref called for captains. So Connor and I went over, flipped a coin, and ran back to the team.
We got the ball, and the better side. I was so siked for the game, especially since by the end of tonight I'm hoping to be Carli's boyfriend.
