Chapter 11
(Max's POV)
Dammit, why did I go out with someone as crazy as her. Naomi Anderson, barrel of bad news. She seemed so nice and loving and fun at first, and it seemed great until she kept bitching about how I'm so devoted to Julie. Well Naomi, she's my best friend, and I'm in love with her. Though I'm probably in denial back then, still...
GAH What was she thinking?! Suddenly show up in America and be all saint to us? What was she up to was the better question, wasn't it?
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my door being knocked. "Max, dear, dinner's ready" Julie's mom's soft voice called from the other side. I nodded but realized how dumb it was seeing how she couldn't see me. "You in there?"
"Yeah, I'll be down in a minute" I shot myself up from bed and groaned at the actual pain of when I moved. I had grown accustomed to laying down in bed for hours and moving actually hurts. I dragged my feet towards the door and out of the room and down the stairs to where the dining room is.
"Hey Max" Julie's dad greeted me, I smiled politely and sat down on the empty seat next to Julie's mom. Where is Julie? "Juliet's not with you?" He asked curiously. Wait...where's Juliet?
"What do you mean?" I asked him confusedly. "I've been in my room for hours" Then just in cue, we heard the door closed.
"That must be Julie" Her mom smiled. "Juliet, dinner's ready" She called out and after a few seconds, Juliet came in the dining room. Her face was all happy, she was smiling and looked really happy, excited even. What the hell did she do earlier? "Where were you and why didn't you tell us you were leaving?"
"Sorry I went off without telling you guys, I didn't plan it but I went to the beach and I...met up with a friend" She smiled, pulling out the chair across from me and sat down.
"Friend?" I asked her skeptically. Friend, by friend, did she mean Carlen? Did she actually meet up with him? "Do I know this friend?"
She looked down at her plate and then up to me, the smile she had on soften a bit and she shrugged. "Maybe, but I think you don't remember her anymore" Oh, so it's a her, that's better than a him. "But anyways, dinner looks good" They started a conversation and I didn't really pay any attention. My mind was still in the evil ex-girlfriend, I couldn't shake her off my head. I didn't know what will happen with her here, and my brain's just kept on racking up all of the worst thing she can do while she's here.
"We're going to buy some Christmas decorations tomorrow, you two want to help out?" Julie's dad asked with a smile on his face. "It could be fun"
"I'm up for it, I'm not sure about Max though" Julie smiled. Damn, it's almost Christmas?
"It's almost Christmas?" I lamely replied.
"What do you think?" Julie laughed. "We've got like 2 weeks"
2 weeks for my family was a long time, but seeing how Julie's family's favorite holiday is Christmas, I can see how they see 2 weeks as a small amount of time. "Sure, I'll help out"
(Naomi's POV)
Grandma's cooking was amazing and as usual, I felt like the little girl I was years ago. My parents used to leave me at Grandma's all the time, either it's because of business or personal reasons but then they moved to New York and did the unexpected, which was bringing me along with them. I wasn't really happy about the moving part, but then I met Max...and then I met the girl who ruined it for me.
Well back then it wasn't really a girl, it was more of an...ape. "I looked at the Yellow Page earlier and realized how much work we're going to do" Gary said. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up from Grandma's cooking.
