So, Maria had only been at the school for about a month now and I couldn't get her out of my damn mind. Her smile, her laugh, her kindness, the way she plays her flute, and even the way she eats. It was like... Like... Like I needed to know everything about her and protect her.
I didn't really get it to be honest.
"Hey Lina!" Maria exclaimed, sitting next to me on the bench. She had a lot of friends, but she always stayed by me.
"Hey!" I said, smirking. I could already tell there was something on her mind. I mean, she wouldn't even make eye contact with me. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Something the matter?"
"Well... Ummm... I was wondering if we could be, you know, moirails?" She asked. I smiled and hugged her.
"How could I say no to that adorable face?" I joked. My heart skipped a beat as she squeezed me back.
"You think I'm adorable?" Maria asked and laughed.
"Ummm, yes." I said and poked her nose. Her cheeks flushed a bright pink. I chuckled.
"Wanna go to Little Ceaser's after school? I have my own car." I said.
"Umm, sure!" She said and smiled. This made me happy. Very happy.
Why did it make me feel so happy? "Do you think I could spend the night at your house?" Maria asked suddenly. I didn't wanna say no, but I couldn't let her. I didn't want my dad getting drunk and hurting my moirail.
"Ummm... Sorry, but my mom is sick and I don't want you getting sick." I said. She really didn't. That was a lie.
"Oh no. I hope she gets better!" Maria said, her green eyes full of worry.
"Its just, the ummm, flu." I said and shrugged. "Its not too bad but my mom will probably be kinda tired too, y'know?" I kept it simple and acted natural. To be honest, I was a good liar.
A part of me didn't like lying to Maria though.
"Well, then you can maybe drop me off at my house." Maria said and smiled. Her smiled made my cheeks go hot.
