Chapter 9: Curiosity Kills The Cat

[Lucy's POV]

"HOW is it? Tastes good?" Natsu grinned ear to ear as he watches me taking another bite.

I stopped and frowned at him. "Wait a second Natsu. You've been asking that for how many times already."

In return, he just laughed and took a slice. "Just kidding."

As I munch and munch, I observed the pinkette as deep as I can. He's slightly spacing off, or something like in a deep thought. I was curious at the same time. What is he thinking? Is it about the deal Gray blurted earlier?

"You look disturbed, Natsu."

He raised his head up and faced me with brows currently lifting. "No. Not really." He uttered and took bites non stop.

I swallowed and took a sip of my coke. "Really? Will you explain the deal between you and Gray?" I asked.

His eyes widened and quickly direct away his gaze. "I guess we should include the word privacy about this, Luce."

I slightly nodded. "Okay." Sheesh. I'm not really that curious anymore either. Especially when people keep it as their own privacy.

"So change topic. My birthday will only be a week after. How should we prepare?" I asked him with ethusiasm. He just blinked and chuckled.

"Oh right. You're turning 18 already. How come I forgot?"

I pouted. So he did really forget. "How come you forgot?" I asked him as if I feel bad for what he said.

He srcatched his nape. "Well you don't look like turning 18." He chuckled.

"Meanie. But anyways, I need a gift. I swear on Mavis' grave I'll be expecting something from you." I pointed my fork at him and laughed. He just returned the favor when he suddenly placed a slice inside my mouth which nearly choked me.

"Whadahelyatsu?!" I tried to speak but to no avail.

He laughed. "They say, don't talk when your mouth is full." He grinned like an idiot. Well he is truly an idiot.

Tch. Curse him. He's still playful as usual.

In frustration, I removed the slice from my mouth and glared at him. I chose not to speak. Seconds later, I noticed that the serving plate was clean. 

I stood up so he also did. We payed the bill and then went outside until my nose caught a sizzling smell.

"What was that?" My nose lifted. I saw him shrugged but instantly I followed the smell. "Hey Luce!"

I ignored the call and suddenly my foot led me to a restaurant. It is where the delicious smell came from.

"Grabbing a food again?" I felt him patting my shoulder. All I did was to nod and stare at the name of the restaurant.

"They serve good food." I mumbled and gulped. My one hand finds its own way to my wallet.

"No you don't luce!" Pair of hands were dragging me away from the resto. Natsu was pulling me away as we reach the stairs. Oh geez!

I faced him and acted like crying. I sniffed and faked a sob. "H-H-Hey why are you crying?"

"It's because you won't allow me to buy there!" I whinned like a child and pointed the resto while my one hand is on my eyes. I sob and sob until I get teary. Oh my, I think I'm seriously crying already. No more fake cries.

I heard him sigh heavily and he messed his hair. "Geez. Why you're so emotional this days luce?"

"It's not like you care!"

"But I do care!"

"Shut up! I want to go home already." I marched away and stomped my feet heavily. I passed the stairs until I reached the exit, not even bothering to look at Natsu catching up. Instead, I immediatly walk on my own to my car. But then I realized just in time, that I don't have any spare keys.

"Uggghhh! Stupid Lucy!!!!" I cussed to myself. My face is all messed up. I turned to look around and no signs of Natsu.

"Where the hell is Natsu?! He's not even catching up!"

I crossed my arms and decided to wait. Why did I even marched here alone? And where is he? Where did he went off? I bet he saw me leaving.

I dont know why but I'm starting to gt worried. This parking lot is dark and I'm all alone, resting my back at the vehicle. I sighed and stared at the night sky. My lips formed into a sincere smile as my eyes were able to form a figure with stars. But suddenly I felt sounds of footsteps coming here so I stood tall and thought it was him.

I smiled and scanned the dark figure coming. "Natsu!"

There, the moonlight fell down to his face. "Hey." Then he clicked something to automatically unlock the vehicle.

But soon my smile faded away like a bubble. "Home?"

"Yeah."

We arrived on the mansion safely. As soon he's done parking the car on the garage, I immediatly walked towards my room. Ignoring all the greeting maids.

"Ah! Lucy your----"

"Tomorrow." I yawned after I responded to Natsu downstairs. I immediatly locked the room and changed into my pajama attire. I took my laptop from the cabinet. I was about to turn on the laptop when suddenly someone knocks on to my door.

"Come in!"

"Lucy..."

My eyes widened when I saw it was Natsu. He's still on his usual attire. Black suit. "I'm sorry for what happened earlier..."

"No...it's okay. It's my fault too. I can't stand not being spolied. My apologies too."

He sighed and walk towards me. He gently sat on the edge of my bed with a slight smile. "I have something to tell you, master."

What? He's with his master master thingy again. I rolled my eyes afterwards. "Dind't I tell you not to call me master anymore?"

"Yeah." Then he laughed silently.

"So? What brings you here?" I took my pillow and hugged it.

But he just stared at me nothingly. Minutes passed, I can't help but to feel frustated. "C'mon say something!"

"Hey natsu!"

"I'll...I'll be soon attending the same school as yours, Luce."

"W...what?" My jaws literally dropped.
