The Controller

Chapter One

I walked out of the doors of my school. It was an awesome day outside. The sky was clear, the sun was out, and the air was a bit cooler than normal.
My friends and I were talking about the game on tv last night when I spotted a girl with two other girls. She was really, really, pretty. I overheard her saying she was going to the Sharing. I wondered what that was.
Bruno, my friend, tapped my shoulder. "Earth to Tom, come in Tom." I jumped not suspecting it and then turned around. "What?" I asked a little ticked off. "Do you like her?" He asked and nodded towards the girl. "I dunno I mean like she's pretty but- yeah. I do." I responded. He laughed for a minute. "She's in my physics class. Her name's Fernanda. Apparently she's a helper at the Sharing. It's like a group that helps clean up places and whatever. You should join. I go too." He told me. I raised my eyebrows and watched her leave to her car. "Where is it?" I asked wanting to go so I could talk to her. Bruno smiled. "Come to my house at five, I'll take you." I nodded slowly. Something about his smile was unsettling.
