(A/n: this one takes place in an au where there all basically in their teen years)
The music rang way to loud in Pete's tiny apartment. It was packed to the brim with people, celebrating Pats 16th birthday. I couldn't handle it anymore though. It was too stuffy. I went out onto the balcony go find my best friend, Mikey, already out there.
He was leaning against the guard rail. An unopened bottle of beer sat next to his arm on the railing. He sighed and ran a hand though his hair. Something was wrong. Once you've been friends with someone for as long as Mikey and I've been friends, you just know when somethings not right.
"Hey Mikey" I whispered. He turned to me and forced a smile.
"Oh, hey (Y/N)" he mumbled.
"You ok?" I ask, tilting my head as I walked over to him. He shrugged and turned back to the night time scenery.
"Yeah, I'm ok" be said, not sounding at all sure of himself. Of course I didn't believe him. I turned out to the view with him. It really was beautiful. The lights of the city gave it an almost mystical glow against the night sky.
"You know you can always talk to me, right?" I asked. He sighed, biting his lip.
"I know..." He finally said after a long silence.
"Then why don't you tell me what's wrong?" I asked, lightly touching his arm. He sighed, shrugging as he looked down at his feet.
"I donno (Y/N), I guess...I guess I've just been thinking too much" he mumbled.
"What about?" I asked, turning to look at him. He still faced straight ahead, eyes down cast, looking at the city below us. He shrugged. Then he looked up. Not alot, but enough to notice.
"What if we never leave this town (Y/N)?" He asked. "Wh-what if we never get out? I mean, its possible..." Suddenly he looked at me. "We could stay in this town forever and die unknown to the world. We could stay here, have a dead end job we hate, get married to someone we can't stand, and have a couple annoying kids, doomed to live the same fate as us. Its a viscous cycle, and we could be doomed to live it" he said, the worry clear in his voice as he turned his body to face me.
I bit my lip, searching for the right words to say. "As possible as that may be, we could also get out. We could get out of this town, land our dream job, marry the most wonderful person in the world, and have amazing kids, destined for greatness. We could change the world Mikey," I assured him, hoping it would help.
He sighed. "But that's just it," he responded, "the worlds already been changed enough, there's nothing left to change. The world's tired of people trying to mess with it. You can't change it anymore." I shook my head and grabbed his hand.
"Not true Mikey," I sighed, "you're my best friend, you know that. You'll always be a big part of the reason I smile. Just by being around and being you, you changed my world." I told him.
He looked me in the eyes. He cracked his frist smiled of the night as he pulled me in closer for one of his famous hugs. "Thanks (Y/N)," he whispered into my ear, "You changed my world to."(A/N: So, this was probably a better imagine for Pete Wentz or something, but Mikey deserves way more love then he gets, so deal with it)
