The horror movie was slightly disappointing to me. All of them seem to be the same now a days.
Family moves into haunted house, and refuses to leave when shit gets scary.
Typical.
What really seems to scare me is the ride home from the movie. Drew isn't moving as quickly as she was when we first got to the movie, and I don't mean the bike.
I can feel her tense up against my body as I ride on the back of the bike through the night air.
She seems to be in a bit of pain, but I'm afraid to ask what's wrong. When she drops me off I take a long look at her before saying anything.
"Are you feeling alright?"
"Fine," she answers and seems to be in less pain then before. Maybe I was just hurting her back, I'm still not use to the bike so I still have the tendency to hold on a little too tightly.
"Okay," I pause, "can I ask you something else?"
"I guess so." She says turning off the bike, but still straddles it with a leg on either side.
"Who told you I like movies?" I ask leaning up against a light pole.
"Uh, I think his name is Jacob."
"Jacob? Jacob Perkins? Tall guy, red hair and green eyes kinda looks like Seth Green?" I ask rapidly with all sorts of hand movements.
"Uh, I guess so. Look, I'm tired," she sighs, "I'll talk to you tomorrow." Her blue eyes seem to glow in the night time and I can still see the pain she must be feeling.
"Uh, yeah, okay." I smile and back away as she starts her bike again and drives away.
When I get home, no one is awake to yell at me or question me so I head up to bed.
I think about Jacob and why he would have told Drew anything about me. As far as I know he hates my guts. Why would he try to help with anything to do with me.
Then again, one look at Drew and Jacob probably would have told her absolutely anything. He would have told her absolutely everything about him and me; maybe even his pet turtle he had in the third grade had she asked.
I should wonder what was up with Drew tonight, but as far as I know this could have been normal behaviour for her.
I fall asleep sometime after that.
I wake up at ten in the morning and decide that it's too early for me to get up so I roll over shut my eyes and try to fall back asleep; I am unsuccessful. So I get up twenty minutes after ten and take a shower.
With foggy glasses on top of my head, I wrap a light blue towel around my waist and make my way back to my room.
No one is home this morning so I take this as an invitation to live a little; play some music a little too loud, eat candy for breakfast and even walk the short distance from the bathroom to my bedroom almost naked; you know, the dangerous stuff.
I'm practically blind without my glasses so I don't see the figure in my room sitting over in the corner of my room until she clears her throat, making her presence known.
I jump and almost drop my towel. My glasses drop from the top of my head to the bridge of my nose when I jump, thus revealing the intruder.
Drew.
"What the fuck?" I shout as I clutch the towel closer to my body.
"No, drop it. I want to see what I'm working with," she smirks. Her voice is deep and seductive. Her eyes; the deepest shade of blue I've ever seen.
"What are you doing here?" I have developed a shakiness in my voice that suggests that I'm nervous, but in all reality I'm just cold.
"I texted you saying that I was coming over. Clearly you didn't get it." She remains sitting, but crosses her legs revealing painted toe nails. She's dressed in all black, but her makeup isn't done. She still looks as beautiful as ever.
"I was in the shower." I shake. I can feel water the water from my hair trickling down my back and onto the floor.
"I can see," she replies and pauses. After a moment she uncrosses her legs and stands. Slowly she makes her way over to me. When she stops, she's only a short distance away. Her right hand reaches out and touches my shoulder. Her fingers dance around the water droplets that have formed on my skin and slowly they disappear down my back.
She moves even closer to me and her hand moves down toward my chest, it stops over my heart and stays there for a few seconds. Her eyes seem to be fixated on its beating.
I haven't moved and I don't until she says, "are you ready?"
"Well, I-" I begin.
She clearly doesn't care for my answer because before I know it she's kissing and sucking on my neck. I have to keep a conscious mind not to kiss her mouth, so I tilt my head to avoid her mouth and give her better access to my neck.
A lot is happening now. I can hear her breathing and her hands keep moving all over the top half of my body. My towel hits the floor and everything seems to stop at once.
She takes a step back, but her eyes never leave mine. I panic and go for my towel. Quickly wrapping it around myself I look back up at her. Her shirt is gone and she seems to be moving to her jeans.
My face gets hot with embarrassment. She doesn't seem to notice and her jeans come off; one leg after the other. She stands before me almost naked and I start to panic again. This is going to happen.
She moves closer to me again and this time takes my towel away from me. It hits the floor for a second time.
She tries to resume what she was doing before, but I stop her. "Drew I can't-"
She backs away again and this time stares blankly at me. "What?"
"I can't do this." I pick up my crumpled towel for the second time.
"What do you mean you can't do this?" Her hands go straight to her hips and she does not look happy. "We had an agreement."
"I know, but-" she cuts me off again.
"But nothing Luke. We-" she starts to speak louder, but it's my turn to cut her off.
"I've never done this before!" I shout. I didn't mean to shout, but it was the only way to get her to listen to me.
She goes quiet and I go quiet too. The yelling has stopped, but the tension is still there. After a moment I speak again, "I'm sorry."
She doesn't say anything for a little while longer. She's thinking about something. Her eyes fall away from mine and to her clothes. She goes for them and slips them on quickly, then sits on my bed. I find a tee shirt and some pyjama pants and dress too. When I'm finished, I sit on the chair in the corner of my room. I look at her and she looks at my bedroom floor.
A few more minutes of silence and I feel like I should speak again. I take a deep breath and go to speak, but she opens her mouth and says, "Okay, well let me just say how relieved I am that you are inexperienced."
I let go of my breath, not realizing I was holding it and say, "you are?"
"Yeah, that means you didn't get anything from Alexia." She replies seriously.
I chuckle, "well it's not like she didn't try-"
"You're not helping yourself." She replies bluntly.
"Right," I reply. The silence starts to fill the room again.
"Don't worry about this Luke," she gets off my bed and walks toward me. She pushes the hair, that has fallen in front of my eye, back on top of my head. "This isn't my first rodeo." She starts to walk out of my room, but I stop her.
"Want some breakfast?" My voice has a desperate tone to it.
She turns and nods.
The both of us head down stairs into the kitchen and I start to make pancakes. She sits quietly in the dining room chair and watches my every move. I try my best to impress her with my cooking skills, so I toss the pancake up in the air and catch it again in the pan. She smirks a little and continues to watch as I slide the flat cake from a pan to her plate. I set out a series of toppings, syrup, margarine and anything else she might be a fan of. I start another one for myself, trying new tricks. She just smirks at me.
While we eat, I feel the need for there to be noise, so I plug my phone into a speaker and put it on shuffle. An upbeat song starts to play that she doesn't recognize, but she seems pleased that there is something to fill the silence.
When we finish eating, we go downstairs and I put in a movie.
"Where are your parents?" She asks.
"They went to go visit my uncle today and won't be back till after lunch." I answer sitting on the couch.
"Good," she replies and sits down beside me.
We watch the whole movie together and when I get up to put it back into my movie collection, she stands up to. I assume it's to go and leave, but she just stands there and doesn't move. She's watching me again with soft eyes.
"What?" I grin.
"Nothing," she replies quickly and looks away.
"I asked you a question," I grin even wider.
She scoff and says,"your rules are stupid."
"Yeah, but they're the rules." I manage to grin even wider. I'm so proud of myself right now.
She sighs again and says, "Fine-I was just thinking about that kiss in the supply closet." Her words are slow and sad.
"And how much you enjoyed it? How much you want another? Too bad it's against the rules, huh? Now whose rules are stupid?" My tone is happy and sarcastic. I almost feel bad about saying it, but I hope that she'll reconsider at least that rule if not all of them.
"I do it for a reason." She replies shortly.
"What reason is that?" I ask.
I hear something beep and she reaches for her phone. It only takes her a second to read the text and only a second more to say, "I have to go." Before I know it she's up the stairs and grabbing her jacket.
"Will I see you later?" I say leaning against the door frame.
"I don't know," she says opening the door and walking out. "I'll text you," she shouts with her back toward me.
The next thing I hear is the familiar sound of a motorbike ripping away from the driveway and on to the street.
I close the door and walk up to my room to change.
I put on some jeans and comb my hair, then quickly tidy my room. I come across the towel that I wore only a few hours ago when I was on the verge of losing my virginity. I pick it up and put it in my laundry basket, then carry the basket down stairs to the laundry room and start the process of getting my clothes ready for the upcoming week.
I hear my parents come in the house. They're fighting about something, so I don't bother to go upstairs. I don't want them to ruin my good mood.
At supper, Kari surprises us with her presence. "Little brother," she smirks while sliding into the chair beside me, "how's it hanging?"
"Okay," I answer and turn to my mom to ask for the peas.
Kari grabs my head without warning and examines my neck. "Luke!" She exclaims, "Is that a hickey?"
"What?" My mom asks as I grab my neck to hide the bruise.
"No!" I answer, "I fell!" I try to explain while Kari grabs my hand to get a closer look at my hickey.
"Yeah, right onto a girls mouth!" She giggles.
"Stop it," I say defensively.
"Are you and Alexia thinking of getting back together?" My mom asks sweetly.
"No,"I reply and keep my hand on my neck. An uncomfortable silence falls over the dining room. Nobody says anything to each other, I like it better this way.
"I have homework." I say after a few moments of silence. I take my plate up to my room and watch a movie. I fall asleep in my bed halfway through the movie and wake up to the sound of my alarm clock going off. It's morning.
I get out of my bed slowly, resisting the need to even open my eyes to see the light. I walk with my eyes squinted, to the bathroom and pee. After I'm finished, I walk back to my bedroom and shut off my alarm clock. I check the time, it's 8:00 am, I have plenty of time to get ready for school. I do my regular morning routine and make it to school just in time to see a fight break out between my ex girlfriend and my kinda-sorta girlfriend.
