Jem woke with a start, she must have fallen asleep. Surly enough when she looked out her window the cold, eery first light of morning was showing over the sand dunes. She reluctantly lifted herself off her floor and walked to her cupboard to grab her sneakers and jersey. She carefully made her way down the stairs, being sure to not make them creak and wake her mom. Soon she found herself outside the front door and making her way down the wooden walkway that lead onto the beach. The soft sand tickled her feet and the fresh air pricked her face. Jem and her mom had only moved into the new house that week, this was her first time going for a walk on the beach and so far she loved it. Being away from the city was literally a breath of fresh air. She had been walking for about 10 minutes when she saw a figure bobbing up and down in the waves. Her heart began to race when she thought the person might be in trouble but immediately relaxed when she saw it was only a surfer. Jem loved photography and the scene before her made her wish she had brought her camera. She vowed that she would come back the same time tomorrow and this time she would bring her camera with her. Somehow she had a feeling the person would be there again.
