It hadn't been easy to tell you childhood crush Dean you were gay.
You two had been driving home from a hunt, Sam napping in the passenger seat when Dean started talking about a girl he'd seen hitting on you at the bar a few hours prior.
"She was eyeing you like a piece of meat Y/N."
"I saw," you said through gritted teeth, remembering that she had been eyeing Dean up just as much. "And she wasn't my type."
"Your type isn't a tall brunette with green eyes? Come on, dude."
"It's not the features," you mumbled, hoping he hadn't heard you.
"What'd ya mean?"
Your heart immediately started to beat faster. Was this the right time to tell him? What if he just didn't understand? You took a deep breath before looking Dean in the eyes through the rearview mirror.
"She's not my type because I don't like girls, Deano. I like guys."
Everything seemed to slow for a second while he grasped what you had just told him.
"You're gay?"
You couldn't bring yourself to say another word, the look on his face said it all. You had just ruined 14 years of friendship in one stupid sentence. A SENTENCE YOU HATED BUT KNEW WAS THE TRUTH! You felt your cheeks getting warm and your eyes beginning to go cloudy.
Suddenly, the car jerked to the side of the road and stopped. You looked back up to Dean from the window and noticing that he was smiling.
"Thank you for telling me. I know it's hard to tell anyone because it's such a private thing. I support you, man. You're my best friend and I'd never want you to feel like you couldn't open up around me about your sexuality. I love you Y/N whether your straight, gay or a damn unicorn that shits Skittles."
You laughed then and it felt like all the tension in the air had vanished.
"Thanks, Deano."
He gave another smile your way that just seemed to melt your heart into mush.
"No, thank you."
