An eleven-year old Bill Cipher sat on his bed in the orphanage (A/N: hahahahaaaaaaHA), looking at the ceiling. Across the room his friend laid down, reading a book.

"Hey Erick," Bill said, "What if this world were a fake? Like there was something more out there..."

"Well," Erick started, "if you find something, let me know. I'd love to escape this world." He breathed out. "The orphanage is only temporary, y'know." Bill cracked a small smile.

"Yeah. I just wish that people wouldn't stare at me like I'm some foreign animal."

"Well, if people aren't perfect, then they're abnormal. If people are perfect, then they're invisible. That's how the world works."

"When did you get so wise?"

"When did you get so philosopher-like?"

"Heh, thanks."

"No problem, ol' one eye," Erick teased.

"I'm younger than you!" Bill exclaimed. It was true. Erick was twelve years old, and would not be joining Bill on his adventure into Hogwarts. This would make Bill sad, for he would be lonesome without his trusty friend.

"Yeah." Silence followed for an eternity. Bill shifted nervously before a shattering sound was heard. They looked at the window.

"What the heck did you do, Bill?" Erick asked, panicked.

"I-I don't know! I just moved my fingers and it shattered!"

"I knew I shouldn't have let you borrow my books! It got to your head, and this happened from your philosophy!"

"Nonsense," an old man said casually, entering the room. He turned to Erick, "Could you please leave? I have to talk to Mr. Cipher about something." Erick nodded with wide eyes, who was this man?

A moment of silence followed before the old man cleared his throat and took a seat. "This might come to a shock to you," he paused, "but you're a wizard."

"What? There's no such thing as magic, though!"

"You might think so," Dumbledore took a stick out and pointed it at the door, before saying some weird word. Was it muffle-auto? Bill thought, what does that even mean?

"I'm here to talk to you about a school called Hogwarts. It's for people like you. People who are different." Bill blinked at this, and covered his blind eye.

"It's because I'm blind in one eye, isn't it?"

"No," Dumbledore chuckled, "it's because you are gifted with magic. How you choose to use it, for good or for evil, is what you will decide later on. I can only hope that it's for good. Now, you must not know who your parents are, correct?" Bill nodded.

"You're parents," Dumbledore continued, "were two very brilliant people. Anne Grey was your mother. She was a pure-blood, but that is not of importance right now. Leonidas Cipher is your father. He was a half-blood, which is also not important. Leonidas and Anne both went to my school, Hogwarts, and were very charming and wonderful students. Sadly, they both, from what I heard, died from an unknown disease, which St. Mungo's couldn't cure."

"Cool," Bill breathed out. "When will I get to go to this school?" His mind had drifted away from Erick, who he would never see again, and his eyes widened.

"September first is when you will go to platform nine and three-quarters in Kings Cross station," Dumbledore handed Bill the Hogwarts letter. "I'm here to take you to get your stuff."

"Sir," Bill said, "how will I pay for my things?"

"Do you have a key?"

"What?"

"A key," Dumbledore repeated. Bill smiled sheepishly and took a black backpack out from under his bed, and a shiny gold key on a chain was held in the palm of Bill's hand.

"Yep."

"Well, this means that you won't have to go on a school scholarship. Now, I suggest we head out."

"Okay," Bill replied. As they left the room, Erick sat in the hall way, eyebrows furrowed and tears beginning to pool. Bill was going to leave him. They'd never talk again.

Or so he thought.
