Okay, be cool, he is just a normal human being, just like you, keep your face straight...and through the array of thoughts I turned back.
"Yeah?"
"I was just wondering if you could help me catch up with everything here..."
He's asking me?!
"Yeah sure, are you free now?"
Hoping that didn't sound desperate...
"Yeah, let's just take a stroll"
Saying so, Jake and I walked out of the class.
*             *             *              *               *

"So, how's life in here?", Jake enquired in a casual tone.
"Going on", I meekly replied.
I had to remind my beating heart to stop fluttering like a helpless bird.
"So what do you want help in?", I finally managed to mumble.
"What not? English, Maths, and everything...you don't mind right?"
"Oh no, not at all, you can borrow my notes whenever you need them"

I spotted people stealing glances at me and Jake but he was all cool. This surprised me because however good a friend Kian is, I had noticed him being uncomfortable with me around in public, especially in front of his popular mates. It hurt, but who would want to be seen with a geek?
But Jake didn't mind at all...

"We shifted here due to my dads transfer", he kept the conversation going.
"So do you like it in here?", I asked.
"It's the same actually, but I had my entire family there...here it's just me, Jen, mom and dad. You have siblings?"
"Yeah, a younger brother"
My brother is one of the very few, for whom I would give myself up!
"Lucky you, being the elder one. Having a twin is pathetic. You got to do everything together."
I thought having a twin is awesome! Maybe he doesn't like his sister so much...
"But I can't imagine life without her you know", he added, breaking another assumption I had made up about him.

"Do you like soccer? I mean watching it or...playing it, if you do.", he asked.
"Umm sports and me don't go together and Kian has been the best player like  for ever, and no newbie has been able to join the Kingsbury Falcons team in the past few years, I doubt anyone will be able to get in this year too!", I finally completed.

Kingsbury Falcons is one of the best soccer teams of the state and that's one thing every one here brags about.

"Kian? That guy who's been hitting on my sister...got to keep an eye on him, he's your friend right?", he shot the question to me.
"Umm yeah...", I said with uncertainty.
"So no one has been able to get in? I guess the tryouts are taking place now, right?" , he asked coming back to the topic.
"Yeah, the same boring ones, I bet you no one will be able to get in this time too, maybe except few kids with rich dads.", I replied in a rather passive tone.
"Yeah, got to go now, see you later, bye!", he walked away towards the gym.
Through the entire conversation, his smile never left his face, except for the fraction of a second where he was talking about Kian hitting on Jenny. At that moment, it was crystal clear to me, he loved his dear ones and could do anything for them, his tense look had said it all.

I waved goodbye and sat to see the tryouts. After so many days, I felt real good after talking to someone. I just hoped the conversation went good from my side.

I saw Kian and team getting ready to send everyone back the same way they came by, it's the same usual routine.

To my utter bewilderment, I saw Jake walking in with the ball. The game began and all eyes were on Jake, his play was FANTABULOUS!!
At that moment, I wanted to take back all my words, each one of them.
The way he played, it was godly! Every single one in the crowd was cheering for him...

That day, I realized you should never judge anyone by their mere appearance. This boy, whom I thought to be another jerk, was something else.
I just wanted to discover him, more and more...
