I lingered by the bed that Kaileen was lying in. She had been unconscious for two days now, and I had come to see her for both those days. I didn't know why, but I was drawn to her like a magnet. The doctors were doing everything they could and I knew it, but the anesthetics that they used in the city were much more strong than the ones we had in Zerron, and so it was taking a longer time for her to wake up. I picked at my fingernails as I sighed, and turned to leave. "Hi," someone spoke behind me. I pivoted around to face her. She was sitting up, head slightly tilted to the side in curiosity, and her bright hazel eyes were sparkling. Summed up in five words, she took my breath away. My brain immediately raised the walls that I usually lived behind. I bent down to her ear.

"Hi there, Kaileen Tessa Windsworth," I whispered.

Kaileen jerked back in surprise. "Whaー?" she looked adorably stunned. Just then, the blonde guy that I recognised to be Kyle walked in. He frowned at me and went to Kaileen possesively, hiding her from my view. He's her Link, a small voice in my head whispered. I was shocked to feel a spike of jealousy as Kyle talked to her in gentle tones and she relaxed completely in his presence. When Kaileen looked up from Kyle to ask me who I was, I was already gone.

Kaileen

That night, I tossed and turned in my bed, unable to fall asleep. The boy with the blue eyes who knew my name kept appearing behind my eyelids. He was the one who had saved us from the Surveillance Force officers, but I didn't even know his name yet. Then I sat up bolt upright. I was sure I had heard someone at my door. Creaking the door open quietly, I found myself inches away from Kyle's face. He clamped a warm hand over my mouth, so my scream ended up sounding more like a squeak. "What are you doing here?" I whispered furiously.

"I couldn't sleep," he said meekly. I threw my hands up into the air, palms facing forward.

"Random people knowing my name, visitors at midnight, what next? Talking marshmallows chasing me?"

"What do you mean, random people knowing your name?" Kyle asked, entering my room and leaning back on my bed.

"You know the chap who shot down all the Surv Force officers with tranquiliser?" I replied.

Kyle frowned. "Yeah... The guy who was in your room when I came in, right?"

"Well, I don't know how, but he knows my full name. Weird, but I guess anything can happen these days." I shrugged. When I looked at him, he was still frowning.

"Did he do anything to you?" his green eyes stared unblinkingly at me.

"Nope," I answered, then assessed the expression on his face. "Kyle... are you jealous?!"

"What? No!" he defended. But the slight blush on his face gave him away.

"Aww, no worries. I don't care for any other guy except you." I kissed him on the cheek. We climbed into bed together, our bodies melded to each other so that I could feel his steady heartbeat on my backbone.
But when I fell asleep, the eyes that dominated my dreams were colored blue, not green.
