Gally and I are settling our disagreements in the Homestead; which isn't helping as all the Gladers probably can hear what we're saying.
"I can't believe you made that guy a Runner, Adri!" Gally yells.
"What was I supposed to do?!" I yell back throwing my hands to my side. "Allow him to go endless nights in the pit? Really? How is that going to help? We have to settle this like adults and look at the bigger picture! Minho was out there with him, we didn't see anything that Minho did. If Minho thinks Thomas should be a Runner that's good enough for me."
"You can be so shallow sometimes." Gally mumbles.
"Excuse me?" I ask as I glare at Gally.
"You like this shank so you decide to reward him for going against the rule, your rules, remember?" Gally yells making a point.
"I remember." I mumble. "He gets a punishment but I'm not going to keep him locked up if he's finally helping us to get out of this hell hole."
Gally just shakes his head, with his back facing me.
"You know we can't stay here forever right?" I ask moving closer to him, rubbing his arm. "And if the box isn't going down and Thomas is finding more things within the past few days then what we have done in the past two years, then I'm not going to punish him for saving us."
With that, I walk out of the hut. Leaving Gally standing there.
"Adriana." Thomas starts as he runs up to my side. "Hey, how did it go in there?"
I look up at Thomas, shaking my head.
"You know, I'm too the point that I just don't care anymore." I reply shaking my head as I keep walking as Thomas follows.
I walk up the ladder to our own sort of tree house, the highest point in what we made the Glade.
"I mean, I wouldn't of made you a Runner today if it weren't for Minho." I say seriously looking at Thomas. "I trust Minho's choice and if he says you should be a Runner, than you should be."
Thomas sits down beside me, flashes me a small smile.
"How did you manage with the Griever's last night?" I ask yawning in the question.
Thomas looks at me concerned.
"Did you get any sleep last night?" Thomas asks watching my facial expressions.
"You learn to live without sleep." I say looking away from Thomas.
"Well I didn't get any sleep either." Thomas mentions as he plays with his hands. "Maybe we should head to Homestead and get some rest."
"I would but I think Minho, Gally, Newt, myself and if Alby's awake, we are going to check that thing you and Minho brought back soon." I mention looking over the Glade.
"You need sleep, I mean Minho mentioned you were coming with us tomorrow on the run." Thomas states with a grin.
"You should get some sleep too." I laugh giving him a small nudge. "Let's go check out the thing you brought back then go to Homestead and get a few hours of sleep in."
Thomas nods with a grin. I walk forward, tripping on an uneasy piece of wood almost falling off the edge until Thomas grabs my arms pulling me back into his chest. I keep a tight grip on his shirt while he just strokes my back as he holds me. I slowly pull back and look up at him, he looks down at me starring between my eyes and my lips. I slightly bite my lip as I switch my eyes from his to his lips.
"Adri! Thomas!" Newt yells from the ground. "We were thinking about looking at the device Minho brought back; you guys finished talking?"
I move from Thomas' arms and look down at Newt.
"Ah yeah...we'll be down now to look at it with you guys." I reply before turning back to the ladder.
I just quickly make my way back down to the ground, quickly walking ahead with Newt, having Thomas quickly on our tails.
"So Tommy, how did you guys end up finding this device?" Newt asked glancing over his shoulder, back at Thomas.
"The Griever must've been injured." Thomas replies, watching his feet as we walk along the grass towards the Keepers Keep. "We found it in the same place where the Griever was, so Minho says."
I open the door to the Keepers Keep and move aside, allowing Thomas and Newt to go before me.
"Thanks Adri." Newt smiles down at me before walking in.
Thomas just smiles, stopping before me, starring down at me before walking into the hut. I sigh with a smile on my face as Thomas walks by me before I follow after him, ready to examine this device. Gally glares at us as we walk into the hut, I sigh before leaning my hands on the table looking down at the device.
