I'm at school and I hate it. I have zero friends and I know I am not going to make any. Someone is walking towards me. It is him of all people, him! Austin Dillion. Why is he coming?!
"Hey Bella what's up?" Austin asks with a smile on his face. "Nothing much." I reply straight faced. "Will you go out with me?" He asks wayyy to enthusiastic. " Sure I guess." I respond.
"Hi, are you the new girl?" Asks a new voice. I turn around, and it is Lauren Edge from 3rd and 4th, ELA.
"Yeah, I'm just trying to find some friends." I explain
"I'll be your friend... Best friends?" She asks
"No," I reply "Best friends forever." And that is how I got my best friend.

Why is my mom here to pick me up early? She looks sad and I know almost instantly something happens to my dad. "Is he hurt?" I think to myself.
And then she comes out and says it. "Your dad was in a mine explosion Bella..." She pauses. I hope against the inevitable. She bursts into tears, " Bella your father died in the explosion," she manages to sob, but I can't hear her. In fact I can't hear anything or see anything. Then everything goes black.
