I've received inspiration for this entry from my friend Phooka (read her stuff she rocks. Pop pop!)
We have lunch room supervisors at our school that.. Well.. Supervise us during lunch. And I have to say, I HATE a lot of them!! Rules are rules and I agree with most of them and I try my best to follow them, but some "rules" these supervisors have are ridiculous! Let me tell you about one of these heavenly lunch room supervisors and her rules:
I'm not going to give a name or anything but any of my school friends out there will understand who I'm talking about.
My class likes to listen to music from the radio we have in our class room during lunch. Now, if I'm not mistaken, the point of turning on the radio is to listen to it... Right? That's pretty clear to a lot of people. This lunch room supervisor seems to think other wise.
To be honest, (you might think this is bias because I'm a student and I'm on one side of this argument) I really don't think we play the music too loud. To me, we play it at a reasonable volume, loud enough to hear but not too loud that it's blasting. But every time this supervisor walks into our class room she turns the volume way down. WAY DOWN. So that it's barely audible. When she comes in, I really don't think the volume is worth turning down. And I've noticed that she will turn it down then come back later and turn it down again! Now during that time in between, we will not even touch the volume and it will stay the same. But she turns it down then comes back and turns it down EVEN QUIETER! I really don't get it! I meant are we that untrustworthy that she can assume that we've turned it back up? Or maybe she just thinks in her mind that we must have turned in back up so her mind fools her into thinking that the volume is louder than it really is!? Please help me figure it out because I've been pondering this whole thing for this entire year!
Something else about this pointless volume rule-like thing... During lunch once, I was on my way to the washroom. (Let me tell you this: my class room is at the very end of the hall, the rest of the classrooms are further down the hall. There is one room across the hall from our but its a teachers room.. I'm not really sure but it's not a classroom. The washroom is at the other end of the hall with the rest of the classrooms.) When I was walking to the washroom, I passed our fellow grade eight class that it across the hall from my destination. Now, It's lunch time and I think all classrooms enjoy playing their radio, so of course, they have the radio on. But what is mind bobbling is.. I know for a fact that the music was louder than ours. I just came from my class room in which I can barely hear the music from inside it. Then I walk past that classroom and from the hallway I can hear the music loud and clear. There is a moderate amount of talking going on so I can hear it and make out the lyrics from the hall on top of the talking going on. But here's where it gets really perplexing...
Ready for this...
I think you'll be as mind blown as I was...
The very same lunch room supervisor that constantly turns down our music was standing right in the doorway smiling and talking to one of the students in the classroom!!!!!! SHE WAS RIGHT THERE AND SHE IS ALOWING THIS MUSIC TO BE THIS LOUD WHEN OUR IS BARELY TURNED ON!!!!!!!!!! What!!!? That makes absolutely no sense to me AT ALL! The excuse the supervisor uses when she turns down our music is that "I can hear it from all the way down the hall! I shouldn't be able to hear it! You'll disturb people with it!" Now lets consider that our classroom is all by its lonesome at the end of the hall, but the classroom I walked by is beside other classrooms with way more people to potentially disturb than us! And we say to her that we can't hear the music and she replies "Well maybe if you would be quiet and stop talking you would hear it!" Well excuse me but NO I shouldn't have to if the other classroom can talk and have their music at a regular volume!
It's just not right! If you are going to have a rule then EVERYONE should follow that rule! Otherwise it's not a rule, it's just you favoring one classroom and being all snotty and rude and mean to another! What's going through your head when you keep ridding us the right to our music! Why I ask you WHY! I really don't see why it bothers her so much! If you can't handle us playing our music loud enough to hear than why not just turn it off all together? It might save me a little bit of hatred and time writing this rant!
Well there's much, MUCH more I could possibly say about our lunch room supervisors but you'd get bored and stop reading... So I guess that'll be it.
Sorry this was so ranty and.. ranty... that's it...
Well, if you put up with this nonsense by lunchroom supervisors that shouldn't be tolerable than we should all join together and rebel! Ha.. That's unlikely... Well it could happen but I'd probably be too scared and goody to join it.. Darn my goodyness! But I guess this whole situation takes some of the sadddness away from there only being a few more weeks of elementary school left for me:( It really has felt that it has gone by so fast looking back at it all... But I guess looking back later on in life it'll be such a small portion of my life... Wow, I'm just realizing now how young I actually am and that I've barely completed a lot of my life yet... I'm sure I'll have many more opportunities to be sad during times of closure. Wow, this changed topics fast... I'll steer things back on track a little...
Darn you lunchroom supervisors for your double-standards and un-tolerable rules!
Goodbye and goodbye to you lunchroom supervisor who I will not miss!
Well sorry if I've sounded mean but I'm sure you guys can agree that they are ridiculous, especially Phooka (no seriously read her stuff).
Bye for real this time!
