Nelson Floros had the house to himself.

He was a heart surgeon. One of the best in Australia. Sometimes he would have to leave for days at a time to travel to Perth or Sydney to operate, leaving his teenaged daughter Alesia, home alone. He knew she would hold teen parties while he was away but he had chosen not to say anything. She was a good kid; despite everything that had happened to her.

Nelson knew that raising a teenage girl on your own was hard, but he thought he had done alright. Well, he hoped he had.

Nelson enjoyed his days off. It gave him more time to spend with Alesia. She was at University at the moment but would return home at two pm (which would be in a few minutes). In the meantime, he was focused on finishing an excellent book.

There was a loud knock at the door. Nelson looked up from his book. They never had visitors. Nelson didn't even know any of his neighbours by name. Alesia wouldn't knock, she had a key.

Nelson put down his book and walked to the front door. He opened it slowly. He wasn't happy with who he saw behind it.

"What are you doing here Emily?" he asked the girl.

Emily was Nelson's ex-sister in law. He hadn't talked to any of his ex-wife's family after the court case.

Emily and Leah were identical twins. The only reason he knew it was Emily standing in front of him, not his ex-wife was that Leah was still in jail.

"You know why I am here, Nelson," Emily answered.

Emily looked so much like Alesia. Why did Alesia have to look like Leah? Why couldn't she had looked like him?

"Aren't you going to invite me in?" Emily asked.

Nelson sighed. He knew there would be no getting rid of Emily. He moved aside to let her through. Emily was now forty, only a year older than Nelson. Yet she still looked almost the same as when she was twenty -seven. Her long brown hair was out, and she had the same firm, determine expression she always had. The same one she had worn during the court case; as she insisted that everything was a lie.

"Leah wants to see Alesia," Emily told Nelson as she cut right to the chase.

"What right does Leah have to see Alesia?" Nelson demanded angrily.

"She is Alesia's mother," Emily reminded her.

"She lost the right to that title years ago!" Nelson yelled.

"Leah is still here biological parent," Emily insisted.

"In the eyes of the law, Alesia is an adult. You can't force her to see Leah," Nelson reminded Emily.

"Dad I'm home," Alesia said as she opened the front door. "I made a new friend."

"That is very nice, Alesia," Nelson answered her.

Alesia closed the door and turned around. It was then that she noticed Emily for the first time.

"What is she doing here?" she growled.

"Alesia, it 's nice to see you," Emily told her. She walked forward to hug the girl but Alesia back away.

"What do you want?" she growled. "Have you come to call me a lying brat again?"

Emily frowned. She turned to Nelson angrily "Aren't you going to tell your daughter to show me so respect?" she asked.

Nelson shook his head violently. "You don't deserve respect after what you put us through," Nelson told her.

Emily turned back to Alesia annoyed. "Leah sent me to talk to you," she told Alesia. "Your mother wants to see you."

Alesia felt her body go numb as she fell to the floor.
