To say, Frankie disliked her law subjects would be an understatement. She dreaded them with a passion. It wasn't that she hated law. It was the opposite actually. She loved Law. It was her passion. She just couldn't stand the people.
The preppy students dressed in their preppy, perfectly, ironed clothes. They would give Frankie dirty looks as she would enter the lecture halls and/or seminar rooms. Frankie with her leather jackets and ripped jeans. Her dark lipstick and bold eyeliner. They would judge her the minute they saw her. To them, she was a trouble maker that would probably drop-out. Yet the joke was on them, as Frankie has received high distinctions on all of her subjects the year before.
They were too serious for Frankie's liking. Too completive. She preferred the people she had met in her art classes. Like Alesia, the sarcastic and witty girl from her criminology class and Johnny; the nerdy boy she had met in her Visual Arts class.
Frankie was glad when the Criminal Law lecturer drew to a close. She stood up from her chair and swung her bag over her shoulder and left the lecture hall.
She hurried back past her classmates as they filed into the busy hallway. She was quick on her feet so it was easy for her to squeeze past them.
It would be another two hours until her Criminology seminar, leaving her with two hours to kill. She had already checked with Alesia, and the two were in the same Criminology Seminar, but Alesia was attending a philosophy seminar at the moment. Frankie decided to visit a café to buy coffee. She was an extreme coffee addict as she probably spent about over twenty dollars on coffee per week. If you wanted a favour from Frankie, just offer to buy her coffee, and she will do it in a heartbeat.
The café was almost full by the time Frankie turned up. She joined the long line and waited about five minutes for her order. She was about to leave the café after receiving her coffee when she recognised someone sitting at one of the tables.
She smiled as she walked towards the table. "Hey Johnny," she smiled.
Johnny looked up at her. He was at the table by the back wall with a tall blonde boy. Johnny smiled at her as she walked over. "Hey Frankie," he replied. "This is Matt," he said motioning towards the boy with him. "Matt this is Frankie."
Matt waved to her as she sat down at the table with them. "Are you a first year?" She asked Matt.
Matt nodded. "Bachelor of Science, you?"
"Second year, Double degree of arts and law," Frankie answered
"So you have already spent a year here?" Matt asked.
Frankie nodded. "After a while, you start to lose your sanity," She told the two as she smirked.
"I think that has already begun for me," Johnny replied.
"Seriously, it only been three days," Frankie told him as she laughed.
"It feels like longer than that," Matt admit.
"I know what you mean," Frankie told the two.
Matt checked the time on his phone. "I have to go," he told them as he stood up and picked up his bag from the floor. "I have poa cells and genes prac starting in ten minutes."
"Have fun," Johnny told him.
"I will," Matt said as he walked away from the two.
Frankie's phone beeped as it received a message. "Sorry for being rude but I am just going to check my phone," she told Johnny.
Johnny smiled slightly. "It is fine," he told her.
It was from Alesia asking her where she was.
"Do you mind if I let my other friend know where we are?" she asked Johnny.
"I am fine with it," Johnny replied.
Frankie quickly texted Alesia, telling her where she was and to meet her at the café.
Alesia turned up a few minutes later.
"Hey Frankie," Alesia said as she approached the two. "Who is your friend?"
"Alesia, this is Johnny," Frankie told her. "He draws some of the most awesome animals I have seen."
"She is exaggerating," Johnny said quickly as he turned red.
"No, I'm not," Frankie told her. She turned to look at Johnny. "You should be prouder of your talents."
"What degree are you doing?" Alesia asked as she sat down at the table.
"A double degree of science and art," Johnny told her. "I'm majoring in Natural History and Visual Arts. You?"
"Bachelor of Arts," Alesia told him. "Majoring in Criminology."
"That sounds interesting," Johnny told her.
"It is," Alesia smiled.
The three talked happily for a half an hour.
Alesia checked the clock on her phone. "Frankie, our seminar starts in five minutes," Alesia told her.
"We should get going then," Frankie said as she stood up and picked up her bag. She looked at Johnny. "See you around, Johnny."
"It was nice to meet you," Alesia told him.
Johnny smiled. "You too," he replied.
Alesia and Frankie exited the café together.
"He seems nice," Alesia told Frankie.
"He is," Frankie replied. "He also intelligent. He is only seventeen, he skipped year eight."
"Really?" Alesia said impressed.
Frankie nodded. "Do you think we will actually learn something in this seminar?" Frankie asked, having doubts.
"I hope so," Alesia replied dryly.
