"My call? What are you talking about? How'd you know I was gonna call you?"
"Ah you see my dear, I saw you the other day when you had seen Kid with Maka. Like you, I did not know that these two were together. It's been driving me mad." A small but insane chuckle came from the other side of the line, sending shivers up your spine.
"Well.." You tried to avoid the laugh that came through and continue on with the conversation. "What's this plan?"
"Jealousy is the best way to drive someone slowly mad my dear~ Trust me." His voice deepened and every word was more poisonous then the last.
"So you wanna like.. Hang out and make them jealous?" What kind of plan was this? This was a plan that grade schoolers would come up with. No one would fall for a stupid mind trick like that. Everyone saw that you and Soul were only friends... Right? You shrugged and returned your attention to the call.
"Well sort of. I figured we could hang around in class more and maybe I some exercises together. Maka, not having her partner, would become weak and almost useless.. And Kid being the kind soul he is, wouldn't leave her for the world. We need to rub this in their faces. Understand?"
The plan still seemed childish and naive. But, running out of choices to see Kid's ways, you agreed.
"Understood." You repeated with a slight nod.
"I'll pick you up in 20. Look pretty doll face." The line clicked and you stared at the receiver before hanging up and placing the phone in your pocket.
You finished getting ready and stood at the door until a faint knock came. You answered the door to see Soul standing there nonchalantly. He smiled as he looked at you, his eyes looking from head to toe. He held out his hand, a signal for you to grab it.
"C'mon. They're at the diner downtown again." You grabbed Souls hand and walked down the street and into the busy city. People walked and bumped into you, cussing under their breaths at the slightest things.
Finally, the town square had been an opening in the brush. Few people walked from shop to shop and the square seemed to be quiet. Your eyes couldn't help but wander to the diner. You checked each outdoor seat for your Golden-eyed god and his... Accomplice. However, no sight of either one of them was present.
"Soul, I thought you said they were at the diner..." You followed him in direction to the small cafe. He walked to the door, held it open and walked in after you. He for some reason avoided your question and walked to the front of the room, looking at the menu.
"Breakfast is on me..." He muttered, looking carefully over his choices. You shrugged and decided that if free food was involved, it wasn't as bad as expected. You stared at the menu and everything looked appetizing. Breakfast sandwiches, muffins, coffees, and cakes lined the board above the registers. You decided on a breakfast sandwich and a small coffee. Soul, as promised, paid for the meals and you two head outside.
"Thank you for the breakfast." You spoke softly as you unwrapped your sandwich. Cheese oozed out the sides as egg and bacon laid over the edges of the roll. It smelled heavenly. Soul undid the cover to his coffee and started to add sugar and creamer to his liking. He took a straw and mixed the liquid as he looked up to you.
"You alright? You seem weird.." He gave you a quizzing look and took a sip from his large cup. This confused you due to the point that nothing actually was wrong. Besides Kids sudden risqué behavior... Nothing was out of place.
"No...? I'm fine.." You gave an assuring smile and took a large bite of your sandwich. Cheese, egg, and bacon created a delightful heaven in your mouth as you stared at the passing people in the square. You felt a tap on your wrist and you looked at Soul who pointed at the opening of the cafe. Kid and Maka were walking in, having a conversation of some sort. Kid walked in front of Maka and suddenly your stomach dropped as his eyes landed on you. He shouted your name with a smile as he began to walk over. You turned back to your sandwich but was interrupted by a pair of soft, warm lips. Your eyes shot open wide as your vision focused on Soul. His eyes laid closed and his face was relaxed. Something melted and your muscles relaxed and your eyes closed.
As Kid approached the table, both of you withdrew. Soul wore a cocky smirk as he looked up to Kid.
"Kid~" He smoothly said.
You looked up to Kid for his reaction. He gave none. His eyes were locked and targeted on you. His jaw clenched and you saw him straighten. His eyes began to look as if they were injected and filled with a mixture of anger and hate.
"Your name." He stated. His voice was cold and harsh. "How could you?" His voice was still harsh but lightened up to show a hint of betrayal. He pulled up a chair and sat down next to you, his eyes never breaking the hold of yours. The stare continued for a few seconds before Kids eyes became half lidded. You paid no attention before you found yourself in the same position as you were with Soul.
Kids lips pressed harder against yours and the kiss seemed more passionate. Your eyes finally drifted close and you gently applied pressure in return. But something was off... This kiss seemed staged and unwanted. The kiss broke and you stared at Kids evil eyes.._~~~~~~~~~~|~~
