Paige Avalon
My stomach decided to have a boxing match with all my other organs and to reject digesting the food I had eaten earlier this morning right at that moment. It was as if all the air I was inhaling a minute ago got chocked up in my throat and refused to leave and when it condensed, instead of making my throat moist it took all the moisture from it. I'm not okay and if I look to see hi face I just know something bad will happen.
After clearing my throat in hopes it would help the fact it was dry, I finally spoke, "Yeah, I'm fine sorry for walking into you."
It felt rude not making eye contact with him, but how could I?
"Hey wait!" he had his warm hand wrapped around my upper arm gently and turned me around to face him.
His voice made me want to swoon and his touch alone sent shivers down my spine along with small forewords and tingles where he'd made contact with me.
I reluctantly pulled my eyes from the floor and got to see the whole view of him before meeting his still ever hypnotizing dark brown eyes. He looks the same, but taller and he's obviously been working out a lot more, however other than that he's the same. Same hairstyle, clothing style, but what about his personality?
"Did," he took a shaky pause, but played it off coolly after seeing my face and that I was looking at him, "Did I go to highschool with you?"
My heart started to rampage. It was ripping ends and tearing the scars out only to have it bleed again. I could feel it stop beat just to destroy itself. My legs were about yo give up on me until I saw mason coming at me with an annoyed expression, while showing something on his phone.
"I swear Paige! That old bitch, Ms.Winn needs to mind her own fucking business and stop stalking everyone who lives in the complex! I don't even know how she got my number!" Mason wrapped an arm around my shoulders to show me the picture with his other hand and using the hand wrapped around my shoulder to point at the picture in order to keep his devise close to my face to prove his point.
"See! She needs to stay out of our business. No wonder she doesn't have a boyfriend or got married," he huffed rudely.
As much as I agreed, it was a rude thing to say and I understand where he's coming from, but you can't say stuff like that about people. It's rude.
I opened my mouth to say something, but someone else beat me to it.
"Mason?"
Both our heads snapped to the boy. No man. My heart clenched when I realized he must of seen the picture of Mason carrying me bridal style into his condo.
Mason seemed to of realized his presence at that moment and took his arm off my shoulder before putting his phone away.
"Vincent? How are you man? I haven't seen you since New Years and that was what? Eight months ago? What have you been up to?" Although Mason is spewing out friendly things and such, his actions and body language shows how uncomfortable he feels.
V cleared his throat, "Oh, you know I've been better," I didn't miss his quick glance in my direction before maintaining eye contact with Mason, "And yeah, August is the eighth month of the year so I haven't seen you in a while. I've been working ever since I finished college. How've you been?" even though he's talking to Mason I could feel his statements and question being directed at me.
Mason lazily shrugged, "Could be better. Work is alright except for the working part, but you know I enjoy it."
"So I see you're a couple now?" Mason and I shared a look of confusion before turning to Vincent.
I opened my mouth to tell him that, that's ridiculous and we're just friends, but he spoke before I could.
"It's okay you don't have to explain yourself. We've been done for what? Five years now? It was inevitable for us to not move on. My girlfriend actually called me to help her finish unpacking in her new place here. We just finished for the day sense she has work so I decided it would be nice to walk around this park I saw when I drove by to find her new place," V shrugged off.
My heart stopped hurting itself. Everything stopped. My world stopped.
I felt Mason tense and I saw his lips move, but I didn't hear anything. My eyes stung and I felt ready to cry, but I held it in. I will never cry in front of him.
Mason wrapped and arm around me, which I used for support as I started at Mason's face trying to understand why I can't hear anything while he sent me worried glances.
I tried to process things, but I couldn't. Only one thing was running through my mind.
Vincent has a girlfriend.
