I was told to safe guard the windowed walls. So I paced boredly back and forth as Bella slept and Edward stared at her with the most painful expression ever.

Oh right,Jake was still here too. I paused when I saw the wolves descending from the trees.Leah and Seth.I had only saw them once before as wolves when we had that big fight against the Seattle coven. They growled low,and their heads tilted upwards.I stared at them intencely, still the slightest bit on edge if they were working for Jacob.I mean,Seth wanted to help as well, but Leah...

I supposed Edward could read their minds if they tried anything too rash. I narrowed my eyes at them before pacing again.

******

In the morning,Esme made sandwiches for the wolves,Seth gladly took his,and so did Jacob, but Leah wasn't gonna make friends with us.I guess I understood.

I was kicked out of the room during Bella's examination, but it wasn't like I couldn't eavesdrop.Evidently  Bella's kid was now breaking her bones, and Carlisle ended up confessing what he told all of us last night, the fact that made Rose cringe and stride out of the room.

'The fetus isn't compatible with your body.' were his exact words, but then he gave a more simpler clarification and just said that it was too strong.Like,he was saying the reason she was puking all the time, wasn't because of normal morning sickness,it was because she couldn't hold anything down.

The baby wouldn't take it.

And then he told her that she wouldn't be able to deliver,at this rate, before she died. I think that was the worse thing Bella could hear right now.She tried to argue, but Bella didn't know that venom was not unstoppable,it couldn't do everything.

Carlisle left the room, and nodded at me as if he accepted my eavesdropping,as Bella told Edward that she was sorry. 'I can't live without you.' was his responce,I normally would have laughed at,but nothing was funny right now.

This was literally a matter of life and death.

I sighed, and quit eavesdropping after that.

Rose ran Bella a bath after that,in which I assume wasn't exactly the best plan, when Edward walked in on them, because he came back fuming again. He sat next to Carlisle on the couch,as I flipped monotoneusly through channels. I couldn't even call it channel-surfing anymore because I wasn't looking for something to watch,it was just a distraction that irritated Jake because he couldn't keep up with vampire eyes.

I don't think any of us could ignore how thirsty we were,as we sat around silently-all of us-and stared at the air or watched the TV I kept flipping through by the milisecond. The dust particles weren't so irritating anymore,I stared at a few falling or flying from some dusty piece of furniture,or they just stirred slightly when Jacob shifted unconfortably in his seat.

"Welcome to the club." I mumbled under my breath to Wolfman, who caught that.I saw his head cocking sideways to me in my perfial vision, but otherwise paying me no attention.

Surprisingly,I wanted to add. This isn't our normal vampire selves. And,I wanted to say that sarcasticly.Because I was right,in comparison we were one big happy family.

*****

We had the USC,Washington game on,but the only one who was watching slightly was Alice.Alice! Not even I could bare to watch football anymore.I stared at Bella anxiously,as did the rest of us.As if this was a game show called Stare your life! and if we all stared enough we could save Bella.I don't know what was going on inside my head,I never used to act stoned when I was thirsty, but now I was.Or maybe it wasn't the thirst...
