He spends his time on the field, shouting for his teammates to run, but he never whispers a word in class. And you would think that the world would be missing his absence but he left for a week and the first day he came back, no one even cared to look back up at his greeting. A boy that everyone has, but no one wants. So he spends his life thinking that no girl could ever want to care for him, not when his existence is forgettable. But I'm standing here waiting for him to notice me and all he does is go and walk right through me. No glance. No smile. Nothing. And you would think that the boy everyone forgot, would remember the girl that couldn't ever forget him but I'm still waiting here, staring at him to look up. He left for a week, and when he came back and first walked into the room, I completely forgot how absolutely charming he was. He illuminated the room and I just want to reach forward and speak to him, but my lips were sewn shut by the strings of fear and rejection. You would think that such a shy boy couldn't intimidate anyone but I'm here, glued to an uncomfortable metal seat and I wish for the day he will remember my name. So I will stay humiliated in the corners of the room, with my sleeved-covered fingers covering everything upon my face but my vision because maybe it's better this way. Isn't it better to miss a chance than ruin all your chances?
- { my father used to tell me to take chances, but all I can think of are the consequences }
