Behind...

The house was dark and quiet. There was no movement or sound to come from the building. It was just pitch black nothingness from the inside out. It was said to have been haunted by ghosts, or just a lonely old man lived there. No one really knew, for no one had ever entered the house.

The old home had been built around 1994 and was a two-story building. Someone had found out the floor-plan of the structure and described it on the internet, probably for new buyers. There was two bedrooms, an office, kitchen, living room, and a small bathroom. The top story contained the two bedrooms. A basement was also present in the plans.

My friends and I lived in the same neighborhood that the house was placed in. Our parents had told us to stay away from the area, for reasons they wouldn't share. We thought that it was dumb that they wouldn't let us near a house. What harm could a house do to a human being anyway?

I had to stay near my house for the next few days since I got grounded for doing something stupid. I was in the yard doing some chores when a few of my friends ran up to me.

"Dude, we're going in," said Jordan. He was supposed to be the cool kid of the group. Not scared of a single thing, would try anything once. Jordan would probably rob a bank if asked to just to look nice. He had dark brown hair that was short and all gelled up or whatever, lightly tan skin, and a strong figure. His height was five foot seven inches and he weighed at average.

"What do you mean you're going in?" I asked him, oblivious.

"I mean we are going into the house," he answered. My other friend Jacy was with him, and she usually didn't do things like this without him since she had such a huge crush on him. " You wanna come with?"

"Well, one, I would but I'm grounded, and two, you know I am not allowed to go even three houses away from my own lot. How did you even get to go anyway?" I said. It was true, I was only allowed to go a certain distance from my house, otherwise, I would have to have a parent.

"We weren't given permission, we're sneaking it," he answered the question I asked previously in a daring tone.

"Won't you get in trouble? What would happen if something happened in there, I know you don't have phones, both of you."

"We'll yell, and we won't get caught. I've already got all that fixed up."

"I-I told both of our p-parents we would be going to a p-party down at The Base," Jacy stuttered out. Jacy was very shy and mysterious. She had long blond hair, long enough to cover her eyes. She was pale and small.

The Base was a little hangout we would all go to sometimes to hang out. Most students that went to our high school did the same thing, going there. Some people went on dates, others would just study with friends. The Base would have parties and game times as well. It was a pretty cool place to go to from time to time.

"Well, we better get going before it gets too dark and our parents think we're doing something wrong or something, so see ya David," Jordan said, dragging Jacy with him.

I stared off at the direction they went, questioning to myself whether I should tell their parents about their behavior. But, I decided not to, for it could lead to the ending of our friendship, plus I may be accused of lying myself. People didn't like to trust me very often. Either way, I continued on with my chores and then went to dinner once my mother had called me in.

It had been a few days since my friends told me that were going to the house. They hadn't been appearing at school nor have their parents seen them around the house. Their parents just assumed they would walk in late at night now or something. Police cars surrounded their houses one day, which worried me quite a bit. I knew what they were like, and they wouldn't just ignore everyone and everything like that, especially Jacy.
