Scott Cawthon Jr., or Scotty, for short, was terrified of Fredbear's Family Diner. Animatronics in general just freaked him out. An animatronic is sort of a costume or puppet put onto a robotic endoskeleton in order to pass off the illusion of a living creature. Chuck E. Cheese, for example, has a lot of Animatronic Characters that move and sing.
At Fredbear's, they have Fredbear, a yellow bear, Bonnie, a blue bunny, and Chica, a chick, all in a fun little band called Fredbear and Friends. They also had Foxy, a pirate fox, but he wasn't in the band. He was more of an interactive character. They also had a couple of convertible spring-lock animatronics that also could be worn as suits. All you had to do was turn a crank until all of the endoskeleton had been pulled against the sides, and secure it with the spring-lock. There were two of these: Fredbear and a yellow Bonnie, known as Spring Bonnie.
Scotty's father, Scott Cawthon Sr., works at Fredbear's. Scotty wasn't a big fan of that, but it paid the bills, so he was okay with it. Occasionally, it would have its benefits.
One day, Scotty noticed that his father was taking longer to come inside after pulling up to the house than usual. He ran to the entrance hallway to find him. There were no doors or doorways on either side of the hallway. It was just a straight shot to the front door. The front door had tall, slim windows on both sides of it with white curtains in front of them. Scotty ran to the window on the right, pulled the curtain aside, and peered out. He saw his father, still in his work uniform, leaning into the trunk in the back of his car. He appeared to be gathering things. Scotty figured he'd try to help him, so he went out to the car.
"Hey, Dad!" Scotty started, approaching him. "Do you need any help?"
"Hey, Junior," he said, finally lifting his bags out of the trunk and shutting it. "That would be great. Could you carry these for me?"
He handed Scotty two bags, which he took immediately. They were awfully light for such big bags. When Scotty got to the door, he set his bags down, opened the door, and held it open until his father had gone in. Then, he grabbed his bags and carried them inside.
"Why do you have so much stuff today, Dad?" Scotty asked.
"I had to pick up a couple things," he replied.
"What kind of things?" Scotty asked.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" his father replied, gesturing toward the bags his son had just carried in.
So, Scotty opened one of the bags, and found some plush toys inside. There were three of them: Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. They each had limbs with circular hands at the ends, except for Foxy, who had a hand with a plastic hook on the end, but, aside from that, they all looked like cute little teddy bears.
He then checked the other bag. Inside of it was a Fredbear plush. It had the yellow fur, purple bowtie, and purple tophat, too. Just by looking into it's eyes he could tell that there was something special about it. So, he hugged it tightly.
"Thank you, Dad! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
