I'm going to tell you a story. I won't set it up to be some amazing romantic love story but it's a love story none the less. Let's begin.
There he sat, first period, staring at the most beautiful and amazing girl he's ever laid eyes on. There was no other girl like her in the whole world, he thought. Countless lectures and education was missed as he spent his classes daydreaming of the perfect date. You could say he had it bad. 'It' being the 'love bug' as his mother would call it. But if that was the case then he had been bitten long before freshman year of college and even high school; year six was when it must've happened. She was sitting at her desk putting papers in her binder when suddenly she dropped her pencil. It had rolled all the way to the back where he was sitting. Of course he picked it up and of course he brought it back to her, but when he looked into her eyes to say "you dropped this" his heart seemed to skip a beat.
Putting year six behind him..he was starting up his freshman year of uni. No more returning her dropped pencil in class and no more walking extra slow in the hallways to casually end up next to her. This was all behind them now, mostly because she wanted nothing to do with him.
Countless times he asked her out and she turned him down with an eye roll and a disgusted sigh. But it wasn't that she thought she was any better than him, in fact it was quite the opposite. You see, Michael Clifford was a well known boy; I wouldn't use the word popular but rather the phrase 'well known'. You would hardly ever meet someone who didn't know Michael Clifford, not that that was a bad thing. But she didn't think she deserved him. Now don't tell her I said that! She would kill me.
So you might be wondering who I am and why I'm telling you this story right about now, well let me tell you. I'm Luke Hemmings, Michael's my best friend and Lily is Michael's crush, his love, his inspiration. And one day he decided to get her a rose for everyday they spent together. Alright, let's get this started.
"What do you think Michael?" The teacher asked.
His name echoed in his head which was filled with daydreamy thoughts.
"Michael Clifford!" She raised her voice.
Michael's head fell from its resting spot on his hand and hit the desk. The classroom began to laugh at him and he slowly sat up.
Lily put her binder in front of her face and sunk down in her chair as everyone looked back at her. The rest of the girls in the class swooned and sighed wishing they could trade lives with the ungrateful girl and appreciate Michael's love.
"Would you care to pay attention?" She asked.
Michael looked up at the teacher "no" he laughed honestly.
The teacher rolled her eyes and the class laughed. The school bell rang and everyone immediately stood.
"Saved by the bell, again" she said to Michael who packed up his bag "I expect your essay's on my desk tomorrow morning!" She yelled to her fleeing students.
"Lil you're so lucky" Natasha, her best friend, said looking over at Michael with the same face he used to stare at Lily.
She rolled her eyes "he's not all that amazing Nat" she picked up her backpack.
"He's sweet and funny and cute and...why don't you like him exactly?" She asked.
"Someone like me can't date someone like him..I'm nobody and he's..somebody" she said starting to walk out "okay now be quiet he's right there" she hid behind her binder
