One year later and you were already going back to that awful mountain. What you said to Mike was true, you never really forgave him, and it took a solid month after the prank before you even considered talking to him, despite how many times a day he tried to get in contact with you. He must've apologized hundreds of times. You weren't as nearly as close to him as you were, you blamed him. The only reason you actually agreed to give him one more chance was because he started to show up at your house regularly asking for your friendship again. You weren't going to lie to yourself, you missed him. You missed your friendship, the bond that you had formed since kindergarten. Yet that bond had been badly damaged, you wouldn't say broken completely, but fractured.
In the back of your mind, you knew that part of the reason you forgave him was because you had a crush on him since freshman year, but you would never admit it out loud, no one knew about it, for you were great at hiding your feelings. He was the biggest fuckboy out there, he basically screwed every girl on the cheerleading team. There was no way he could ever reciprocate your feelings, Mike wasn't like that, he wasn't the one for commitment. The closest thing that he came to commitment was being able to hold up the responsibility of being class president. You were his friend, not just another one of his toys. He wouldn't do that with you. He wouldn't do that to you, not unless he had feelings toward you, but you pushed that thought aside. He's been with every good looking girl out there, there was no way you could compare to most of them. He was Mike, and to him, you were his friend and wingman, nothing else.
You were riding the cable car alone, mostly because you came a little late due to the bus breaking down. You didn't mind it though, it gave you more time to prepare your mind for being up there again without them.
Now that you were nearing the end of your journey, you realized you didn't want to walk up that mountain alone, due to the fact it always gave you a eery feeling, especially now that they're gone.
You decided to call Sam, mostly because you knew that she would be the least bothered by you asking.
You knew that Jess and Em would be to busy with Mike and Matt. You hated admitting it, but you we're jealous of Jess, and even Emily, but you never let that get in the way of your friendships with them.
Like for Mike, it took a while to somewhat forgive them, but eventually you started to get lonely, despite Chris and Sam's comfort. You were pretty close to them before, but afterwards, they became like your brother and sister. Including Josh, they were the only ones you could stand to be around afterwards for the first month.
She texted you back with a smile face and a 'of course, scaredy cat'. She was always the brave one, and you let her be. Being brave wasn't exactly your thing, and you were fine with that.
You got off of the cable car and waited patiently for Sam, staring into the dark forest. You swear you saw something move in there.
Screech
And there was your proof. You knew something was in there, and it wasn't human. Hell, you didn't even know if it was an animal. But it was something, and it wasn't good.
You started to panic, your heart began racing. Sam better get there soon.
After minutes of waiting, which felt like hours to you, you decided to run as fast as you could, as long as it was away from what ever you were hearing and seeing. Thank god you packed lightly, you weren't the athletic one, you were more of the brainy, punk rock type of person, but at least you could run if your life depended on it.
