Calum's POV
I stepped out of my car and into the bright sunlight, shielding my eyes before remembering that I had sunglasses. I quickly slipped them on, just realizing how much time I had spent standing in front of my car in broad daylight, squinting at the sun. I would be lucky if no one saw me. I flipped up the hood of my jacket, making sure to look as unsuspicious as possible wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses in 80 degree weather.
Walking briskly, I slid past the congregation of people standing outside the Starbucks and made my way inside. I stood in line for a little bit before moving up to the front and ordering my drink. The barista sighed and asked, "Name?"
"Uh...i-it's...uhh," I stuttered trying to think of a name other than my own, "Stanley." Wow good going Calum, choke on your "own name". Because that doesn't look suspicious at all. I let out a nervous chuckle and sighed. She probably know who I am already and if not she's probably going to call the cops. I thought, as if I don't already look like a goddamn robber.
The barista looked up at me, squinting her green eyes slightly before widening them in realization.
"Oh my god," she breathed, "you're-you're-"
"No! Please don't!" I exclaimed, "I'll give you a picture or an autograph or something just please don't tell anyone that I'm here." She was grinning goofily and staring at me. I gave her an expectant look and she snapped out of her trance, shaking her head and blinking quickly.
"Sorry," she said slowly, "I just- I love your band so much. I thought this would never happen." She kept rambling on about how amazing we were while other people in line behind me started grumbling impatiently. "Okay well Stanley," she said, "your drink will be ready soon." I smiled at her one last time before pulling out my wallet to pay.
"Oh no," she stopped me, "you don't have to pay. It's on the house."
"Are you sure?" I questioned.
"Of course," she replied, "anything for you Calum."
I stood in line scrolling through Twitter aimlessly, waiting for my drink. I looked over at the counter and saw my drink waiting for me. I guess they didn't want to call names? I picked it up and took a sip before looking around for a seat. The whole place was packed and the only seat was across from a girl with long hair that was white at the roots then faded down to a nice blue color. Her hair was slicked back in a messy ponytail reaching all the way down to below her ribcage. She was sitting on her phone sipping her small drink in front of her. Her phone was in her hand and she seemed to be scrolling through something . I made my way over and stood by the empty chair, waiting for her to notice me.
"Is anyone sitting here?" I asked.
"Uh, no I guess," she replied sounding unsure of herself. I smiled and sat down after replying with a small 'thank you'. As we made small talk, I learned that her name was Bailey. She looked awfully familiar but I couldn't remember where I knew her from. It was like I was missing a whole chunk of my memory. How did I know her? Friend? Old friend? Highschool friend? Mali's friend? Mom's friend's daughter? Old girlfriend that I dated for like a week? Ugh, there are so many possibilities. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't pinpoint how or where I knew her from. I glanced down at my phone. 10:46... 10:46...I know I have something to do at- I HAVE BAND PRACTICE! I stood up and sighed.
"Well, I must be going now, I have rehearsals. But I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?" She nodded and I returned it with a warm smile as I flipped my hood back on and pushed my sunglasses on my nose.
Stepping out into the sunlight, I still couldn't shake the feeling that I knew her from somewhere. The memories were hazy, but I specifically remember something that had to do with that girl.
Even as I got in the car and drove away, I couldn't shake the feeling. Even as I rehearsed with my mates, even when we went out to eat that night, and when we went clubbing. Even as I drifted off to sleep I couldn't help but remember her face and how familiar it was. I felt like I had known her for years. Even when I started dreaming, I was dreaming about her. (AWWWW)
