Chapter Two
A smile spread across my face when I saw Olivia come into the room. She had pale white skin, was 22 years old and had crystal blue eyes. Her hair was streaked blonde with some brown mixed in, and she was 5'3. I always enjoy seeing her because she is my only friend in the castle. Olivia didn't come to lock my window, in fact she came in to talk to me. We talked and talked for a long time and we would occasionally burst out into laughter. We stopped talking and laughing when my father walked through the door. He wasn't a strict as my mom, but he still had to be stern about somethings. He came and sat down with us and didn't even care that Olivia wasn't working. We talked and joked around for awhile until my mom came in and busted us.
"You know better! All of you! Olivia get back to work, Bella get ready for the ball tonight, and you too James!" My mom said sternly
"Ok just calm down I know you're stressed about tonight but taking it out in everyone else is not right. Promise me you'll calm down Mia, ok?" My dad said with a very calming voice. That seemed to do the trick because my mom smiled and walked away. My dad must have seen the look on my face about having to wear the dress because he started cracking up. Olivia saw it too and giggled and told me she would help me get ready. I started laughing too because of how ridiculous all of this was. A few minutes later my dad left and shut the door behind him. Olivia walked over to my old wooden closet and took out my mint colored strapless dress that reached to just a half an inch above my knee. It was tight up top and flowed out at the bottom and had no sparkles or sequins, but had a thick grey/silver belt with a silver buckle. When Olivia told me I had to wear matching heels I rolled my eyes and gave her a look of 'do I really have to' well I guess it was really funny because she almost started crying from laughing. I soon was ready to walk out the door, until l was told my I had to paint my nails mint color too. I almost walked out but I knew I would have been in serious trouble if I did.
By the time the ball started, I was feeling like a completely different person. My strawberry blonde hair was down and curled, I had makeup on, earrings, and a necklace. The thing that really got me feeling weird was definitely the shoes. I tried to shove that thought aside when I ran into my mother in the hallway. Surprisingly she didn't say one bad thing about how I looked. I was soon making my way down the stairs slowly, when Olivia ran up to me. She had this look of concern on her face.
"What Olivia, what happened?"
"The... The... Cake f-f-f-fell off the c-counter and there is no time to make another one!" She said with a shaky voice and tears in her eyes.
"It's ok calm down I know a faster way to make the cake again. When does the ball start again?" I asked with a calming manner.
"B-b-but your mom is going to be so mad! She really wanted that cake to be p-p-perfect! 7:00 o'clock" she said as she burst into tears
"What time is it now? Don't cry, don't cry! I'll go help the cooks make it again! Go upstairs to my room and freshen up ok?" I said with a lot more sympathy than I expected.
"It's.. Its 6:10, I can't, I can't go to your room to do that! Your mom n-n-needs me working!" She said through tears
"I ordered you to go up there, by the time you come down the cake should be done."She left with a smile and ran up the stairs quietly and into my room. Just then my mother came out of her room and down the stairs. She had a happy expression on her face. She came right up to me and told me I looked beautiful. I smiled and told her the same. Her smile soon faded away and tears appeared on her eyes. I was absolutely astounded. Why was she crying? What did I do? What did I say?
