"Thank you very much for letting me crash here for breakfast." I say as we get up.
"Twas our pleasure." Glimmer responds with a sweet smile.
"So what class do you have first A?" Giselle asks me in a light tone.
"A? i assume that's a nickname?" i say with a chuckle.
My attempt at being funny is a fail. Giselle's face drops as she replies, "I'm sorry Asling. i just thought that it... never mind what i thought."
"No no no, i am horribly sorry the nickname is fine. I'ts just a... shock. I stammer out.
"What ever do you mean" Giselle asks, her face scrunched up in confusion.
i mentally slap myself. " Well nicknames are typically for those who are friends."
Giselle's face instantly changes to a happy expression. " Well Asling i thought we were friends."
now i really want to slap myself. I'm an idiot. "really?" is all that comes out of my mouth.
"Yes really. Now let's get going, shall we?"
***
Furnished redwood floors lay before me as we make it into a ballet classroom . The bars are a shiny cream and brown . Endless mirrors line the walls. A window in the middle of the room, at the side of the room over looks the court yard. Along the back walls are cubbies with names written in pink and gold. This is by far the best and most beautiful dance studio I have ever seen.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts literally as Giselle pulls me to the back.
" As you can see this is where our belongings go."As we are putting our dance bags away in walks three very slim and blonde haired girls. Their cheek bones are striking. There skin is a pale creamy white. Each one has their hair up in perfect buns. Their point shoes are literally shiny.
"Oh bloody hell not again" I hear Glimmer whisper under her breath.
This catches my attention.
"Why did you say that" I whisper to her.
"Those three..." She points the three blonde beauty's "those are the Elites. Their dads own this dance academy and since they do they think they are the best"
"Well are they?" I ask in curiosity.
"Oh goodness no not by a long shot."
"And who do we have here?" One of the blonde girls ask.
"Oh, who me?"
"Yes you love, who are you?" She asks with a sickening sweet voice.
"I'm Asling Shaye."
"Ah..." She says her face darkening a bit. "Your the new American my daddy was so kind to pay for"
"Well yeah I guess you could put it that way" I say a little ticked off.
"I hear you didn't even audition." Says another one of the Blondie's.
"Yeah that's correct, but I assure you I would have made it in even with an audition"
The first girl glares at me with her emerald green eyes. Her lips scrunch up into a distasteful line.
"So a who are you wonderful ladies " I ask sweetly
"I'm Enna" ,the first of the three with emerald eyes replies.
"I'm Lillian." The second says her eyes a shimmery hazel.
"I'm Tanya. " the third says with a small smile.
"Well its nice to meet you ladies" I say cheerfully
"Like wise" they say in unison.
"Bar now!" A strong firm female voice demands. I snap right to attention. Following Glimmer and Giselle to the bar. I take my place at the back of the bar.
"First position ladies. When your done with your morning warm ups please meet in the center"
One by one I watch as the girls make their way to the center of the room as instructed. Filling the girls I end up in the back row. This slightly annoys me. Mostly because I can't see a damn thing with these tall bun heads in my way.
"First positions, Demi plie, 2 attitude turns followed by arabesque. "
The soft hum of Mozart plays through the room as we repeat the phrase over and over. It feels good to dance again. It's been to long. The teacher who I haven't a clue what the name is of, walks around the room. Her features are absolutely exquisite. Her skin a Carmel honey. Her soft brown hair is tied in a perfect pony tail. She's not extremely tall but isn't short either.
Her gaze shifts from glimmer who is in front of me to myself. A soft smile tales form on her light pink lips as she pauses the music.
"Class I would like you to watch..." She pauses looking in my direction. She must not know my name
"Asling, ma'am" I say with a curt nod.
"Yes thank you. Class watch Asling's smooth straight likes of her arabesque. Dear do extend higher. "
She presses play. I wait a few beats letting the music flow through me. I do as she says and finish with the song.
"Very well done Asling. Miss Glimmer and Miss Giselle and Miss Dayla please follow Asling to the front of the group."
Looks of shock fill their pretty faces as the stare at our teacher.
"Did I stutter?" She asks in a firm tone.
"No ma'am" the two say in unison. They quickly and quietly make their way to the front wot me following at their heals.
" Enna Tanya and Lillian please take the back row."
Looks of hatred fill their pretty little pale faces
As they scurried to the back of the room."Welcome to The Academy Asling I'm Mrs. Lacy. Looks like this year will be one of the finest. "
With a smile on her face she started of the music once more.
