My head was bouncing like crazy when I woke up. I didn't want to open my eyes yet, being so dizzy and tired at once. I tried to breath in and out very slowly to make it go away. As the dizziness faded, I opened my eyes to see something I didn't expected; an empty space. An empty space on the place where Rick's house should be. And it was just... gone.

Looking around me, I started realising that something was wrong. I just didn't know what, so I panicked. I quickly picked up my bike and my shoulder bag while already breathing heavily. As fast as I could, I rode towards my house. When I reached it, the sweat almost dripped of my face.

"What the-" I thought out loud when I saw my house. It was being built; there wasn't even a second floor yet. What is happening here? I didn't understand. Still panicking, I rode through many streets and finally reached the city centre. Everything looked so different and old so that I understood the situation even less.

Until I saw that sign. A sign telling me today's date; April 26, 1988.

My mouth instantly fell open. "1988? Is this a dream? This can't be happening... Right? No, it's impossible..." I muttered to myself.

Few minutes later, still in shock, I noticed a short girl with blond hair who immediately reminded me of Jade so I ran towards her. "Jade! Jade!" I was only a meter away from her when she turned around, making me realise it wasn't Jade. "I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else." I quickly mutter to the surprised girl before I awkwardly walked back to my bike again. A bit further, I saw a park so I decided to go there. I didn't know why though, I think I just needed some peace.

My eyes fluttered open as someone shook my shoulder. I was ready to slap the person as hard as I could but a masculine and strong hand grabbed my wrist to stop me. I looked up in the twilight to face a quite handsome guy, who looked few years younger than me. He had a lovely face and brown eyes with a sparkle in them. This stranger was wearing high socks in an old pair of shoes, brown trousers and a hideous black shirt which had a lot of stains on it.

"Let me go." I said sternly before he did and asked,

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, why do you ask?" I replied surprised.

"'Cause you're crying..." He said carefully.

I didn't realise I was crying until I touched my cheek. After quickly wiping off the tears, I told the guy I was completely fine.

"Why are you sleeping here?" His voice grated a little, which made him clear his throat.

"Because I like it, duh." I said with an ironic tone.

"I'm being serious, don't you have a home?"

"I don't, anymore."

"Well, you're always welcome to stay at my house, if you want of course." He rambled with a trembling voice, making me smile at his cuteness.

I doubted it would be safe but after thinking about it, I said, "That would be lovely, actually. What's your name?" I didn't care about the fact that I don't know him at all, I just needed a place to stay.

"Benjamin, but just call me Ben, else you'll sound like my mother." I chuckled.

"I'm Vanessa, nice to meet you."

"So... Why don't you have a lodging?" He asked curiously while leading me the way to his house.

"Uh, let's say that I just... arrived here."

We talked more on our way so I got to know basic things about him; he's 17 years old, only a year younger than me; his father died when he was 14; he has a sister but she moved out already and lived together with her future husband in the great city of London.
