JUNE CAMP

Monday I learned how to forward march.

Tuesday I learned how to backward march.

Wednesday I learned drag turns to the left, right, and rear along with left and right slides, left and right flanks

box drill, coordinates , what inside and outside the fifty means. I also learned how to stand at ease, attention, and when horns come up. Along with all verbal commands and verbal word from going to at ease to attention (when you go from at ease to attention you have to say hut as loud as you can). I also learned transitions.

And,

EVERYTHING STARTS ON YOU LEFT FOOT!

I don't know how many times I've heard that, you would always hear the returners yelling, "LEFT!" to correct people off step or ,"COVER DOWN!" or the one I was told the most ,"DON'T MOVE!" when we weren't marching, and it's hard not to when you get the hiccups. It always made me nervous do I was always biting my bottom lip (I think I even tasted blood once) especially when the one of the drum majors came to watch us when we weren't in full block band. Not to mention one of the drum majors is really cute, so that added onto my nervousness.

I'm already excited for the first actual march we have.

OMG IM GETTING OBSESSED WITH MARCHING BAND!!!!!!!!!

*girly scream*

To carried away?

Sorry I get those moments every now and then.

But any way Thursday was my last day at June band camp (so excited for July band camp) and we got to march with our instruments which made me super excited. I never knew marching with an instrument as light as mine would hurt so much (I still feel the pain in my arms, shoulders, and waist, from slides,). Then I got so nervous that I literally couldn't stay with anyone, but then again no one could so at least I wasn't the only one. And my instrument yeah had to be parallel to the ground ,since I play flute this really hurt after awhile. Then after awhile my arms started giving out causing my flute to drop down a little where it wasn't parallel. I was yelled at the whole time "KEEP YOUR FLUTE UP!" at least it was also yelled at the girl behind/in front of me. Near the end all the returnees had a competition to see who was the best marcher and who ever won got 20 bucks, and the flutes won (YAY GO FLUTES). Then at the end the drum majors gave out awards (My friend got the best newbie award) and we had to go home early. :( I was sad to leave, but still really excited for this school year to start. Even though an old friend/band director Mr. Casey retired at the end of my seventh grade year, I will stay strong and make it through all of marching band just as he told me when my aunt is in marching band. I'm determined to win but first I have to work hard.

Hard work always pays off in the end! =D

My update will be July 29 the start of July camp already excited.
