With marching band everything got so busy freshman year, so here's a little summary to tell y'all what happened.
So we did pretty good over all won first place a lot along with multiple captions I can't remember exactly. Football games were hectic, ESPECIALLY Halloween night. Yeah we ended up marching pre-game only. When we got up to the stands and just sat down we were told get to safety bad weather was coming. we stood up and about halfway down it started pouring down rain, literally pouring. Lightning shot across the stadium taking the power out in the stadium (luckily it ended up not hitting us since we had our instruments with us.) Then tornado sirens went off, and as if the night couldn't get anymore worse the tornado wasn't even a mile away maybe less than that. So the band, while wearing our uniforms and having our instruments, were told to run to the concession stand and stay in there till the weather clears a little bit. But while we were in there the football field was tore up. There were soccer goals in the middle of the roads, one was split in half by lightning, the power was out till about what half a mile before the high school not for sure, and the majority of the schools fencing was gone. But the one thing that stood in place, I swear it was bizarre, but the giant orange tower on the band practice field was untouched. Now out of all thing I would of been fine with at least a tiny something happen like the chain and gate be gone, but no its left untouched.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but if that itself made the school build a tornado siren after it, when there were way worse storms a few years before that, while the high school was built. Shouldn't they done that before like a few years before? I mean the school is still pretty new its only been open since 2000 maybe possible shorter than that but there was a really horrible like never ending non stop rain/hailish/alway producing tornados storm while the school was built not to mention many tornados happened during school. And yet they didn't build one then but built one after Halloween night? Compared to last year that storm was what three years ago during the first week of April. Now don't get me wrong it was a strong line of storms, but the real stuff didn't happen till that weekend where it felt like you were living in your basement for months, but as we looked at the weather it was almost as if it was a in land hurricane but with tornados and never ending rain. (it's shocking how I can remember when these storms happen better than anything else) But I seriously don't see why they didn't put one up then instead of after Halloween. Then again there's a thing called common sense and sometimes the school lacks in that. No offense but it's just my opinion.
Now that said I'm now a sophomore in marching band again the theme this year is the planets and it's called Out of This World and we're doing good so far the first two competitions we won first place with visual captions, third place with no captions, I forgot to do a visual during this competition and I was THE ONLY ONE STANDING I felt so awkward and I was just like "well shit" plus Rolla was better than us (but in my opinion it wasn't fair they were so much bigger than us like seriously), then our fourth competition we got second place with visual and music captions. But as I'm typing this (10-13-14 at 3:31 pm just to let you know) there are very server storms with a wall to wall tornado watch but the storm is moving pretty quickly so we almost had to go to our safe place at school during marching band. Now again is it just me or is marching band sounding dangerous with Mother Nature? Oh while I'm thinking about I saw the impossible Monday last week during band practice but it rain while it was sunny outside. Trust me it's possible. But right now it's lookin like it could flood any moment and it hasn't been raining that long. And this is just the start of what's coming next. Watch it happen during band.
But back to subject I might switch to piccolo next year. What do you guys think should I do it? I unsure still if I should or not. Anyway sorry for not updating much as you could tell things are hectic where I live with the weather. So I'm gonna end it here guys and I'll try to update more.
