1915-1959Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her music partner Lester Young, She had a influence on jazz music and pop singing. Billies vocal style was inspired by jazz instrumentalists and made a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo. She made people stop and see what was happening to the world around them.
