An adult Kigahen walked silently through the unground facility; 19 years had passed since his arrival. The familiar sounds of metal clanking; the hiss of pipes; and the short beeps coming from the Nasods rang through the hallway.
He opened a door to a large room. Various types of metals were scattered about room. Soot and ash were strewn about as well, covering the metals slightly. Benches were placed crookedly among the walls, and on the wall across from the doorway, was a wall lined in tools. The room glowed a faint orange, coming from the fire to heat metal up.
Kigahen pulled a sheet of metal out; which was dented and scratched away in several places. Upon closer inspection, someone would have been able to notice the metal as the siding of a Nasod. He pulled out a hammer and a pair of of thick gloves next. Kigahen slipped the gloves over his calloused hands. Around his neck was a pair of goggles, which he had over his eyes now.
He held out the metal into the fire, waiting for it to heat up. Kigahen placed it on his work bench, starting to hammer at it. Sparks scattered with each powerful hit. Kigahen stopped, and took a step back, inspecting his handiwork. He grabbed the sheet firmly, before dipping it into a barrel of water. After he placed it on the bench, he lifted his goggles, looking at it once again.
Ten door to the blacksmith's area was slammed open. "Kigahen!" A human voice shouted. Kigahen tossed his goggles and gloves aside as he turned around to face the intruder.
"What?" Kigahen growled, narrowing his eyes. The intruder was actually a short, stout man with frizzy hair and glasses that seem to be plastered to a wrinkly face. He wore a white lab coat, a read turtle neck sweater underneath and black trousers. The mans name was Hikumari.
"There was a battle and a fire at the Crow Mercenary's Kingdom!" Hikumari exclaimed.
Kigahen turned around and held up the metal once again, making sure he hadn't made any mistakes.
"Kigahen, pay attention!" Hikumari demanded, receiving a sigh from Kigahen as he set his project back down. "There was a fight with Crow Mercenary's. Supposedly there was supposed to be an execution, but a group of Knights saved the one who was supposed to be killed," Hikumari stopped to take a breath.
"They ran into the forest, but the enemy was in pursuit of them, killing them all. However, one man was forced to survive in order to watch as his comrades died in front of his eyes. After they left him on the brink of death, a Nasod found him..."
Kigahen set the metal down once again, his attention completely on the doctor. Another human joining with the Nasods? Currently there was only three humans working with Nasods; Kigahen, Hikumari, and a girl named Yujiko. There was a slim chance that thee could be more, but he had never seen anyone besides the three of them.
"Hikumari, what was the deal?" Kigahen spoke slowly, his expression emotionless.
"From the rumours, it is that this man has made a deal for rebirth and life." Hikumari chose his words carefully. "He lost his arm in the battle."
Kigahen's insides tensed up. Depending where his arm was cut, and how badly the rest of his body was damaged, this man could possible die. But why was Hikumari telling him this now? He was the doctor after all. Kigahen was just a blacksmith, and an electrician to the Nasods.
"What do you expect me to do, Hikumari? He's probably going to die either way." Kigahen leaned against the workbench, his arms crossed and a frown on his face.
"I've been ordered to tell you that you are required to create an arm for him" Hikumari spoke, "you've been entrusted to create a fully functioning arm. The higher ups believe that this man could be valuable to your research about the effects that Nasod application have on humans if it we to become part of their body."
Kigahen stood still, deep in thought. This was a person coming from outside of the Nasods territory. If this newcomer could be saved, he'd be able to ask questions about the outside life.
Honestly he didn't care of he had to create an arm or not. He wanted to know what it was like outside of the Nasod Kingdom.
"Show me where he is," commanded Kigahen, fully standing up.
