Joe's POV
Walking down the hallway I was getting looks here and there, I was looking for Amy.
I was getting scared when I couldn't find her. I heard giggling, I stopped in my tracks. More giggling, then it stopped and I heard footsteps. Then the bathroom door opened. 5 girls walked out.
I caught a glimpse of Amy.
I looked around the hallway.
Everyone seemed busy. I gulped and ran into the girls washroom.
Amy looked at me shocked. Her face stained with tears.
"Shh shh! I know I'm not supposed to be in here...don't tell anyone." I regretted those words as soon as they left my mouth. I squatted next to her. She was crying with her face in her lap.
She looked at me with her tear filled eyes. She slowly nodded.
"What did they say to you?" I asked her.
She opened her mouth to say something.
"Cmon Amy at least try!" I whisper shouted.
She mumbled.
"Was it about your body?" I asked. She shook her head.
"Your hair?" She shook her head.
"Well what was it?" I asked.
"I'm going crazy Joe!" She shouted. She gasped and covered her mouth.
"Y-you talk?" I asked shocked. I sat down next to her.
"I have selective Mutism" she said.
There was an awkward silence.
"I like your voice" I said. I turned my head and looked at her.
She blushed.
"Thanks...I like you" She said. She looked at me.
She looked at my eyes. Her gaze moved to my lips, she gulped and looked at me as if she was asking for permission to kiss me.
I began leaning in, she did the same.
Our lips so close to connecting. She hesitated.
I grabbed her face and pressed our lips together.
Our lips moved in perfect sync. The kiss was beautiful and passionate, none of my kisses have ever been like this.
She puts her left hand on my neck, deepening the kiss.
She pulled away. She looked at the tiny space in between us and bit her lip. She removed her hands from my neck.
"What?" I asked.
"I've never done that before," she said.
"Amy...It was perfect if that's what your were worried about that," I stated.
"We're in a girls washroom Joe," She said.
I laughed.
She didn't say anything.
"Amy...?" I asked.
"Joe i'm leaving," she says.
"You're not insane." I stated.
"Joe..." She says.
"Amy..." I say.
"I am gong crazy..." She says.
"No you're not!" I argue.
"I am... How can I believe that you really liked me for a second?" She said.
"I do really like you Amy," I say.
"You're pitying me Joe...all you are doing is feeling sorry for me! Just like my family!" She stands up abruptly.
"No Amy that's not true!" I say.
"Yes it is J-" she was cut off by Zoë walking in the washroom.
She slowly backs out and walks away.
I take this time to study Amy.
Her eyes are brown just brown, she's wearing a salmon t-shirt tucked into dark boot cut jeans. She's wearing black and blue sneakers. Her hair is brown neatly put in a braid tossed to the side.
"Amy listen to me," I say getting into her face.
She doesn't move she just plays with her necklace.
"I know I never talked to you or made attempts to but...knowing you took time out of your lives to write these letters means so much." I hug her.
"Joe..I love the fact you're hugging me but why now? Why not when I didn't give you the letters?" She asks pushing me away.
"I don't know! I didn't think you cared for me either!" I shouted.
She runs out of the washroom leaving me feeling cold.
