"Why she coming to see Lau anyway?" Zukko whispers. "I mean... do you think she got something with-"

"Nigga, shut the fuck up." Ace says, slapping him. "Have some respect. God damn. You know Larry crazy. He would never let this girl do anything with his brother."

"She wouldn't do anything like that anyway." Laurent says, his eyes still closed. The three guys look over to him.

"I thought he was sleep." Donovan whispers to the two. "Almost had a damn heart attack."

"She a better person than anyone I've ever met. You guys are fucked up. Be glad my brother not hear you say that."

"Hey, I was with you! That was all Zukko."

"Damn, Ace, throw me under the fucking bus!"

"Shit, I ain't dyin today. I got some girls to hit up. Maybe tomorrow or some shit."

"Y'all dumb." Donovan says, shaking his head.

"My brother really serious about this girl, so if you have anything to say, don't say it."

"Even if it's a compliment?" Donovan asks.

"Yes. Don't say nothing about her. I not know how he react, and I can't really help you either."

"Shit, we gonna be quiet as fuck." Ace laughs, running a hand over his face.

They hear the gate of the warehouse open and Ace folds his hands, placing them in his lap and straightening up.

"It is not that serious nigga." Donovan laughs.

"Shit, I told you, I ain't dying."

The door opens, a girl walking in first.

"Daaaaaaaamn." Ace mutters before biting down on his lip. Donovan coughs and looks down, stopping the look he was going to give her. Zukko rolls his eyes at the two, glancing at her. He gives her the once over before looking away.

"Hi." She nervously says to them, nodding.

"Hey." Zukko says, offering her a smile.

"Wassup." Donovan says, nodding at her once. Ace nods, playing with his toothpick.

Anni nods once more before turning to Laurent and giving him a worried look. "Oh, Lau." She mutters, moving over to him and kneeling at his side. "How are you feeling?"

"Like a million dollars." He says, giving her a smirk. She rolls her eyes.

"Now isn't the time to be snarky Lau." She says, smiling. "You sure you can't go to the hospital?"

"I hate hospitals." He says, the look in his eyes darkening. Anni nods, looking down at her hands.

"Sorry."

"Is fine." Laurent says. "Is not that serious anyway. Je vais bien." (I'm fine.)

"I don't know why you're speaking french. I don't understand that shit. I took spanish in high school." She laughs, running a hand through her hair. Laurent chuckles.

"I'm fine. Don't worry. Now go to my brother, he look jealous."

"I not jealous." Larry says. "I'm angry."

"Is fine brother. Nous allons les obtenir, et puis nous allons prendre soin d'elle." (We'll get them and then we'll take care of it.)

"Je vais gérer cela. Rest." (I will handle it.)

Laurent scoffs, rolling his eyes.

"Lau, when you get better, Jayden would like to see you again." Anni says with a smile. "He said he had fun with you two." Anni looks back at Larry, who smiled softly. Laurent closes his eyes, a similar smile on his face.

Ace chokes a bit on his spit, seeing the smiles given by the twins, making them disappear and get replaced by stern looks.

"You cool?" Donovan asks, patting his back.

"Yes, yes. Sorry." Ace says, nodding. Zukko shakes his head, laughing at him.

"Uh, y'all can act like yourselves." Anni says, looking at them. "You aren't going to scare me or anything."

They keep quiet and Donovan looks at Larry, who had been staring at Anni. Donovan sighs.

"Aiight then." Donovan says, nodding once. "I'm Donovan. Nigga with the toothpick, that's Ace, him right here, this is Zukko."

"I'm Anni." She says, giving them a smile. "It's nice to meet you guys."

"Likewise." Zukko says, giving her a small smile.

"Nett." Larry says, calling Anni's attention to him. "You ready to go?"

"Uh, sure." She says, looking back at Lau. "Get better Lau, okay?"

"I'll be fine tomorrow." Laurent says, waving her off. She gives him a smile and turns to the three musketeers.

"Bye guys."

They watch her follow behind Larry ope of the door, and Ace sighs, slumping over.

"Fuck, if I knew she was gonna be that cute..." Ace says, shaking his head. "Yo brother got some good ass taste."

"Yeah." Laurent mutters, yawning. "I'm going home." He says, slowly getting up off the couch.

"Yo, maybe you shouldn't-"

"If Larry come back, tell him I went back home." Laurent says, slowly getting off the couch and standing up, pain etched on his face.

"You need some help, man?" Ace asks, getting up.

"No, I'm fine. See y'all later."

"Laurent, just let me help-"

"Nigga, sit the fuck down." Laurent says, looking at Ace. The anger in his face was apparent and Ace holds his hands up in surrender.

"Aiight, aiight. I'll sit the fuck down." He says, sitting back down. Laurent continues on his way, limping out of the building.

Ace blows out some air. "I understand them niggas is in charge of us or whatever, but we're their right hands, aren't we? We have some sort of job with them. Why is it whenever one of us try to help, we get shut the fuck down."

"I don't know." Zukko shrugs. "I mean, they got a lot of pride I guess. To them, it's just the two against the world."

"I wonder if Larry would ever let Anni help." Donovan says, and the two others look at him.

"Nigga, that was a stupid ass question." Ace laughs.

"I bet Larry doesn't even let Anni drive her own car with him around. He shelters the fuck outta her." Zukko says, shaking his head.

"I guess that's love then."

"Nah, that's Larry's type of love. He take protecting her to a whole new level." Ace says, shaking his head. "She probably don't even know how he really is when he get mad."

"Does he even get mad at her?" Zukko asks, frowning a bit.

"Nah, probably not." Donovan says. "Did you see that smile on his face when she started talking about whoever Jayden is?"

"Bro, both of them niggas was smiling! I almost died!" Ace says. "It wasn't those sick crazed smiles they have, or their regular ass smiles, yo they were legit soft as fuck."

"I've never seen either of them like that."

"Especially not Laurent. I could imagine Larry smiling like that at her all the time, but Laurent?" Donovan shakes his head.

"Nah, I had a feeling Laurent would smile." Ace says.

"Yeah, well you were with these niggas since the beginning of time." Zukko says.

"Oh, with..."

"Yeah." Ace says, getting quieter and looking down.

The three of them sit in silence, Ace sinking lower into the seat. "I think that's why Larry's so protective about Anni." Ace says, pulling the toothpick from his mouth. "He doesn't want to lose her like how they lost Noemi."
