Anni twirls the ring on her finger, looking through the crowd of people. Everything was always hectic after graduation. People looking for their family and friends for pictures, people handing out flowers, everyone crowding around to talk. Just too many people in once space and she couldn't find the people she was looking for.
The first people on her list were her mother and Jayden for sure. Then... it was her father.
She hadn't seen the man in years, so many years, but that didn't stop her from sending him a ticket. He was her father, what could she possibly do? She was his oldest child and no matter what went down between her and him, he was still family, despite the fact that she majorly disliked him. She wanted him to go. She wanted to see him, to catch up with him, to have him meet Jayden. She was hoping this could help her get over her daddy issues and that the two of them could have a good relationship.
This also set something good up. Her father could finally meet Larry, although she won't tell him how serious the two were.
If Anni told her father that she had plans to marry Larry, he would flip out. He tended to flip out a lot.
"Baby." Larry calls out, making her turn around. She frowns a bit, watching him walk over. How did she hear him from that distance. Maybe it was like the telepathy he had with his brother. Maybe some of it rubbed off on her.
Her face splits into a smile as he walks over, his black gown on. The black cap had been placed over the fresh twists she had done for him and his brother, who was trailing behind him.
She bites her lip, running over and jumping into his arms. "Oh baby!" She squeals, kissing his cheek. "You look so nice." She coos as he twirls her around.
"You look better." He says, kissing her. "You find Jayden and Momma Joy?"
"No. I couldn't find my dad either." She huffs. "Maybe that's a good thing..."
"I want to meet him though. I want to ask for your hand in marriage, like the old days."
"Oh my God, don't do that shit." Anni says, slapping his chest. "He might pass out."
Laurent laughs, shaking his head. "Do it bro. I wanna see his face."
"You guys are evil." Anni says, laying her head on Larry's chest. "Wow." She mutters. "We made it so far."
"I'm proud of you baby." Larry says, making her look up.
"What, you didn't think I could make it or something?"
"No, I know you able to make it. You able to make it anywhere baby." He says, kissing her.
"Y'all nasty." Laurent mutters, crossing his arms.
"You're going to be the same way when you find love Laurent."
"Momma!" Anni shouts, pulling away from Larry and propelling herself into her mother's arms.
"Oh, Annette." Her mother says, tightly hugging her. "I just saw you yesterday and you're hugging me like we haven't seen each other in years."
"I'm in my feelings momma. It's graduation."
"I know baby. I'm so proud of you."
"Where's Jay, momma?" Anni asks, pulling away and looking around. "I miss my baby."
"He's with Lamar and your father."
"Lamar's here?" Anni says, her face going blank.
"I'm sorry baby." Her mother says, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I sure as hell didn't give that boy no tickets."
