Priscilla sat in class, not even listening to the lesson that Mr. Ryan was teaching.
"Physics, the branch of scienceconcerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy; includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms."
In other words…boring to her.
She looked down at her bruised hand and smiled at the thought that she messed up Mr. “Overindulge” Radcliff’s pretty face. She felt good seeing Victor bleed, but she was taken back by Gabriel’s reaction.
She saw something in Gabriel’s eyes, a hint of lust that remained while he stared at her chest. She suddenly felt self-conscious about her cleavage. That’s ridiculous. He is not on the market, well at least not for women. She thought. I won’t admit it but I think I need a boyfriend. She never liked to admit that she needed a man in her life.
Every since her cousin Lily became a huge disappointment to the family with certain priorities, that ultimately had her disowned, and we were even banned from speaking her name. Lily’s voice echoed in her head, “I need a boyfriend.”
Strange how that sentence was the start of Lily’s downfall. Priscilla vowed that she would not become Lily, even though she loved her cousin like a dear sister, Lily could never come home without being judged harshly.
Men, can’t live with it, can’t live without them.
“Blue-jay, you can’t live without me.” A voice replied in her head.
Cilla smiled as she remembered a certain husky voice that belonged to Nick Caspian that echoed back in her head. Nick Caspian was the boy along with his older brother saved her from that incident five years ago and she loved him ever since. Nicholas “Nick” James Caspian has been her boyfriend for four years but this year was different. He joined the Marine Corps after high school and was assigned a two-year tour in during the summer, so they decided to take a break. For some reason, he felt that he might not came back and didn’t won’t her to wait for him. Cilla had the feeling that he wanted to announce the “Timeout” in their relationship maybe because he didn’t want to receive a “Dear John” letter, while he was deployed. She was probably at fault because she forced him to watch Dear John with her and it brought out some of his fears when he was not around.
She began to trace the bruises on her hand and imagined that Nick took her hand like he always did after she got into fight. He hated when she fought but he would always there to tend her wounds. She could still hear his sweet laugh, when he complained that it should’ve been the other way around. She thought back to one of those nights he came over after her training with her guy cousins.
“Blue-jay, you’re insane. But I still love you.” He took a breath as continued to wrap the cut that she got by a punk who brought knife to a fistfight. He laughed, “I bet he deserved it…poor guy. He looked at me with a proud smile. “Blue-jay, can you promise me not to do that again?” He laughed again because he knew she gave him I-make-no-promise look. “Ok, fine…you win, but tell me where it hurts the most?” He said with a mischievous smirk. Cilla pointed to her knuckles and wrists because she didn’t know if she trusted his question.
He then took her hands and began to kiss each knuckle, she felt cheeks heat up, but Nick didn’t stop there. He flipped her hands over and slowly kissed her wrists that seem to linger on her skin, she felt goose bumps formed on her arm. He was such a tease. “Why are you pouting…does your lips hurt? She watched as he leaned closer as their noses barely touching. His lips were so close…then a jolt of pain brought her back to reality.
